Nintendo in 2013? Empty Nintendo in 2013?

I know this really isn't a Nintendo game, just a topic about Nintendo in general, but it still fits. Razz Does everyone think 2013 was a good year for Nintendo? And what were your thoughts on the games and apps they released?

Personally I feel like it was their best year in quite some time, Nintendo games just completely took up my time throughout the year. Especially on 3DS, Fire Emblem Awakening was my favorite game in the series (despite the fact that I've only played 4 of them...) it was simply amazing. Then once Animal Crossing: New Leaf released, it was all I played for like 3 months straight, that game is just very addicting. I kinda stopped playing after summer just because of the other games released, but still it was so much fun to play. Then Pikmin 3 was fantastic and got me into the series. I played 2 on the GCN before, but I didn't find it to be that great of a game. So I was pleasantly surprised playing this one, it was absolutely beautiful, and I enjoyed every bit of it. I did get stuck on one of those bosses in the third area, but other than that it was relaxing and a great game. Then Pokémon Y which I thought was the best game in that series as well, although it did leave me somewhat disappointed because the worlds weren't even that fun to explore which I was expecting of a 3DS game. (I hadn't played any Pokémon games since GBC) Then Mario & Luigi: Dream Team which I never completed because my cartridge stopped working. :/ From what I did get to play I thought it was good, and I did get pretty far even if I didn't get to finish. Then A Link Between Worlds which is perhaps my 2nd favorite Zelda game, I played through it twice which shows how short it was, but I still enjoyed every bit of it. I posted a short review of it already if you want to know my thoughts though, so I won't say anything else.

Then I just got Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon late, but from what I've played so far, I really enjoy it.

And I won't really mention these just because they weren't released this year, but I also went and got 4 or 5 Wii games I missed out on previously and played them on my Wii U. My original Wii is broken, so it was nice to be able to play those other games.

There's still 2 games I'm going to play soon - Rayman Legends and Super Mario 3D World on my Wii U. I've heard they're amazing, so I can't wait!

So yeah, those are my thoughts on Nintendo games this year, it was FANTASTIC. Unlike the other big game companies, Nintendo was focused on games rather than hardware. And it really shows with all of these amazing games. I hope 2014 is even better.

    I think they did great.
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon is very appealing to different audiences and is a great game (I should get).
They (in my opinion) released the best Fire Emblem game and the best Animal Crossing game in the entire existence of both series.
Pokémon X and Y sold incredibly well and are great games.
And to finish off the 3DS side, Mario & Luigi Dream Team also sold well (especially in Japan).
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a great game and will continue to sell

Pikmin 3 was a great game and sold well.
New Super Luigi U was a must-get for younger people (despite the fact they have no idea how easy it is).
Sonic Lost World is a great game for both platforms (and should've sold more).
Super Mario 3D World was a great challenging game and continues to sell well.
Wii Party U and Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games will be good games and sell a lot for younger people.

Overall, Nintendo performed extremely well this year.

I agree with you guys and I would also say that The Wonderful 101 was a good game and there's a mode were you can play with others so, it's a shame that the game did not do all that great. I also liked how Nintendo had a female playable character in almost every Wii U game that game out. Like Brittney in Pikmn 3, Wander Pink for the Wonderful 101, Dixie Kong for DKCTF, Peach and Rosalina in 3D World and even Smash 4 will have the most female playable characters to date. The only down side was that the Wii U did not move that many units through 2013.

^They kept the Wii U too quiet through the first half of the year.
    That really destroyed sales.
This year releasing DKCTF and Mario Kart 8 will help.

Well, Mario Kart will at the very least. XD But if I'm being honest, while there are quite a few interesting games releasing this year (namely Mario Kart, X, Bayonetta, FE X SMT, Smash Bros, and hopefully Zelda) I STILL don't think it's enough without at least some titles from third party developers. PS4 is getting a ton of games as well, so hopefully Nintendo can still get the Wii U to sell better even before Mario Kart releases.

But yeah, I guess it wasn't a great year for Wii U, hopefully 2014 will be better. But I don't want Nintendo to focus TOO much on Wii U, the 3DS is close to being my favorite console of all time, just having even close to the amount of great games released in 2013 would probably make it so.
