What's with no sleep mode on GBA games?

Yeah, I understand that the original GBA model probably couldn't do it in the same way as the DS and future Nintendo handhelds, and that some GBA games had a sleep option. But with the SP they could've easily added in sleep mode in the same way as the future handhelds. Considering the DS released only about a year afterwards, they had to have come up with the idea for closing it to have it go into sleep mode by then.

But EVEN SO, when the GBA games then came to 3DS Virtual Console, only through the ambassador program, they STILL didn't have a sleep mode function despite the fact that the 3DS can easily go into sleep mode, even for other Virtual Console titles from NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Gear. As for Wii U VC it makes sense there would be no sleep mode, as it is a home console which doesn't have the feature normally.

Why do you think Nintendo never decided to add a sleep mode function for GBA games? Is it just not possible to do so?

I thought Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga had sleep mode? Also there's no need for sleep mode for 3DS GBA VC games since there's the save state.

But there is no save state on the 3DS GBA games. Only on Wii U. And yeah, Superstar Saga probably has a sleep mode option, and some select GBA games do. But they're hidden in menus and are only on a few GBA games, there isn't an option to put the GBA itself in sleep mode.

My guess is that Nintendo abandoned the sleep mode, making it easier for gamers to put their game away; when some people might have turned off their handheld console forgetting that they were in the middle of playing a game. Some people might have blamed Nintendo for allowing the availability for sleep mode & may have strongly asked Nintendo to leave the sleep mode out of future games that were released.

Some gamers usually like to blame the company. Not all, but most do. *shrugs*

No, what I'm talking about is for the 3DS. My guess; (not fact just a guess) is that not every one liked the sleep feature & was thus abandoned. My thought as stated in my post prior; is that maybe a lot of people complained to Nintendo about it & thus why sleep mode was abandoned in the games that were released. I have no idea why else they'd be missing otherwise.

I'm still confused about what you're saying...they weren't "removed" from the 3DS versions' releases, because they weren't in the original GBA releases to begin with. I just found it strange because every other VC game has sleep mode even if it wasn't available on the original console, whereas the GBA doesn't. It doesn't make much sense to me.

Ohh, lol I was confused then. I thought you were saying that some GBA games that had sleep modes weren't made available as in previous titles. XD

Actually there is one GBA game I own that has sleep mode; Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team has sleep mode available for it. So my guess is that it depends on the game for weather it's made available or not.

Yeah, I did notice a few GBA games have that feature. I just wish they went into sleep mode as easily as the DS and 3DS, with just closing them. But I guess they hadn't yet thought of the idea at the time the GBA SP released.
