What do you think of game console add-ons?

Personally, I'd rather not have to buy an add-on unless it really adds something meaningful to the console. To me they seem rather pointless, especially when it's something like the Sega Genesis add-on monstrosity. Razz I'm honestly glad add-ons aren't made quite as much anymore.

On the other hand, one add-on I really like is the Game Boy Player on GameCube, I thought it was pretty cool to play Game Boy and GBA games on the TV. Although I rarely use it now, it's still attached to my GameCube and I haven't played any Game Boy games on it in the longest time...

I think add-ones are pointless now since consoles and handhelds can just connect  with each other if the games support it now.
