Your Game of the Year for 2014

Post by Zero Revolution on Thu Jan 08, 2015 6:01 pm

So 3 threads is maybe a bit excessive. Razz This one is for your personal game of the year though. Which game did you enjoy the most that released in 2014?

Surprisingly, I'm still going with Kirby: Triple Deluxe for Nintendo 3DS. As a Kirby game, I wasn't quite expecting to enjoy it as much as I ended up liking it. The levels are really well-designed, and it uses the 3D very well. (not to mention the soundtrack is great as with previous Kirby games)

However, the games I played the most in 2014 were Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors, which still kind of surprises me, as I wasn't expecting to enjoy those as much as I did either. XD

At this point, the only game I wanted to play last year that I didn't was Bayonetta 2, and I'm still planning to buy it eventually. Possibly when a price drop happens? I don't really have the money at the moment. There were a few others I wanted to try out, but I'm not sure I'll even end up getting them now...

@Razor. Please buy Bayonetta 2 at your earliest possible convenience.

My GOTY would probably be Super Dangan Ronpa 2. A great cast of characters and the story was great. Honorable mentions go to Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Project Diva F 2nd as they are all flawless.

The game I played the most this year is Project Diva F 2nd. Something like 80 hours in the Japanese version and 45 hours in the English version. Such a fun game to play Very Happy

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
I've barely played it at all but it's still the most fun I've had in the eight generation games.

I'd have to say South Park Stick of Truth is my game of the year. I could replay it 4 times over & still want to play it. I got a lot of replay value out of it even if I'm going through as all of the available 'jobs' in the game.

I got quite a few games in 2014, but some of them would be eliminated because they weren't released in that year (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and FTL: Faster Than Light, for example). So, it's either Endless Legend or Civilization: Beyond Earth. Since CivBE was a bit of a disappointment, and still needs plenty of work before it realizes its potential, I guess it'll have to be Endless Legend.
