What do you think about the length of games? Does it matter?

I personally think a game can be any length as long as it's enjoyable. However, I definitely do NOT think a game that literally can be competed in under half an hour should be priced at the full $60. (or even anywhere close to that, *cough*MetalGearSolidV*cough*) It does depend on the game though. RPGs are of course expected to be fairly long, at least 20-30 hours, if not 100 or more. I buy platformers knowing full well they only take 5-10 hours to finish.

Really, I just think games still need to be priced accordingly if they're very short in length.

Yeah, certainly. Even if you're earning $20 per hour, that's three hours of work for half an hour of gaming time, which is a very poor trade-off IMO. And I'm not earning $20 per hour, so it'd be even worse for me.

Maybe that's why I tend to buy games that are highly replayable Razz .

Same here. And actually, that's one of the things I like most about Nintendo games, even the ones that aren't JRPGs or huge multiplayer titles are fun to play over and over again. Most story-driven games (as in, the ones that are more like interactive movies and not games, I'm not bashing stories in games of course) tend to not be fun to play more than once. (maybe twice)

Why do you think I tend to play a lot of JRPG's, Tactical RPGs, action games, platformers & etc? Cause usually games in these genera's will last me for a good couple of hours if not days on end. xp

I think it does matter but no always. I do enjoy the long games and my favorite genre, RPGs are usually really long. Of course if a game makes you backtrack a lot to lengthen the game then that's not very fun.

Majora's Mask is pretty short and it's my favorite Zelda game so it's not always about length. Games that are worth playing a million times are just as good as long ones.

I don't usually mind about Game Length, as long as the game is very good. (Kirby 64/Minish Cap) However, it can be a problem if the game itself is made very badly.

I think it should allow, if a game has a story to fully tell it from beginning to end. I would think a game starts taking too long if after doing a main objective by going to multiple places, an event happens, and then you have to revisit all of those places making the game basically take twice as long. In actual hours it'd vary depending on the game.

I'm fine with long games, as long as they don't just simply drag and adds hardly anything new and interesting. I want them have a well developed plot all the way, or gameplay that keeps the game interesting. I don't want a too long Kirby game for example, I don't think I would be interested in it for too long unless the gameplay and stage designs are something really special.

It all depends on the type of game, really. Sometimes it's nice to play a game that only takes ten hours to beat, and sometimes an 100+ hours plot-heavy JRPG.
