Ever since the Zelda delay, I keep seeing tons of people online saying Wii U is over, it's dead, and that Zelda will be a cross-gen game releasing on NX, which will come next year. NX is releasing late 2017 at the earliest, if it's even a home console. Iwata has said MULTIPLE times, including very recently, that Wii U is going to last throughout the generation, and that there are plenty of new games coming this year and next. Why does everyone suddenly think Wii U is dead? 3D Zelda games have ALWAYS been delayed, every single one except Majora's Mask. It's not a reason to think Wii U is over.

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
It's just Sony and Microsoft fanboys thinking they're cool.
The 2015 lineup is thin, but we haven't had a Direct since January.
NX hasn't even been confirmed as a handheld or home console, and earliest I expect it is Late 2017, 5 years after the Wii U had been around.

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
There was a Direct in January.
It's nothing new Zero there's always sites that trash Nintendo daily since they need some traffic. At this point we know Wii U will never take off the way Wii did. As for Zelda Wii U I belive the game will still come to Wii U and then get a port for the NX.

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
Guys, it isn't just people trashing Nintendo, a lot of people are disappointed because they think this means NX is coming soon, and Wii U just released a couple years ago. If I knew for sure NX was releasing next year (which I'm 99% certain it isn't) then I'd think the same thing, but come on. Wii U still has a LOT of life left. I really think people are overthinking this delay for Zelda. Just because Twilight Princess happened doesn't mean the same will happen with Zelda Wii U unless it ends up being delayed to like 2017.

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
I don't know anything about the NX jazz nor do I care but...
People are only saying this because without the Zelda 2015 holiday release Nintendo might be screwed when it comes to the holidays. What will they release? They've got Mario Maker, Star Fox, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem (Who knows about the latter though). Those games while good, don't have the appeal of say, a Mario 3D game/Mario Kart or a new Zelda game and so are relatively niche (Mario Maker could be a flop or a huge success) The holidays are obviously a great time for major releases and Nintendo need a big game to give the Wii U even more of a push.
Of course it could all turn around at E3 so everything I just typed could be a bunch of gibberish or true. Hopefully at E3 Nintendo do announce some games like Animal Crossing and Metroid.

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
What I do see, is they are lacking any Mario sports games other than the Sonic Olympic Crossover, and they don't have a traditional Mario 3D Game.
If there aren't any more mainstream Mario games, the Wii U would be a bit disappointing for that series.

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
^ Luma, a Mario sports game might sell well, but it isn't going to sell Wii Us at all, nor are that many interested in it. (I could be wrong, but the games have not been doing well with recent releases on 3DS, which has 5 times the userbase of Wii U) I feel like they need more new experiences to pull in more customers, something like Splatoon, but for the holiday season.

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
I feel personally like the Wii U is this gens N64 since there wasn't much released for the N64 back in the day. It's like Nintendo isn't learning from it's past mistakes & is just repeating them all over again. Iwata & a few others feel that the Wii U isn't 'dead' but in truth; it kind of is. There are way more 3DS game releases & even a new 3DS console release. We can't say the same with the Wii U. If anything I think the Wii U died long before it launched since the 3DS was launched first & Nintendo seems to just have focused more of it's releases for it because it's probably easier/cheaper to design games for the 3DS; where as the Wii U has a different archetype most likely.
I know that Iwata has been saying the Wii U 'isn't dead'... But I personally feel that it is since the 3DS overshadows it every time with a great 3DS title reveal; leaving a gaping hole of only a few games getting released to the Wii U comparatively.

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
^ While Nintendo might not be handling game releases well enough on Wii U compared to the 3DS, I'd have to disagree. 3DS has tons of third-party support, whereas Nintendo is left alone to develop new titles for Wii U, which is also an HD console and a home console, so the games are going to take quite a bit longer to develop. They've tried to tide us over with the smaller budget releases too, you can't really blame them is how I see it.
But at the same time, I can see where you're coming from. Most people just aren't interested in many Wii U games, whereas 3DS is getting new games constantly that quite a few people are interested in. I mean, there's a reason it sells so well compared to the Wii U. But I definitely don't think Wii U is 'dead', they're still developing plenty of new titles, they're just released sparingly because they take such a long time to make.

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
You say that but a lot of games that are releasing to the 3DS are coming from Nintendo; yes it might have 3rd party support but the writing is all over the wall impo; the Wii U was dead when the PS4 & Xbone released being closer to the pc archetype. Which is sad really.
Though I can see what your saying; you can't ignore what all of the 3rd party developers are 'saying' by not developing for the Wii U is that either Nintendo gets on board the pc archetype train or get out. (Basically.)

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
^ It's 'dead' in the sense that it won't be getting more third party titles is what I think you're trying to say. (other than partnership stuff like Bayonetta and Devil's Third, which I hope there's more of!) Nintendo is still trying their best to release as much as humanly possible on Wii U though, and I don't think they're just switching over to NX now or something like that. Wii U is still a thing for awhile, I think.
But I guess if it's dead to you...that's disappointing though. Hopefully more titles you want start releasing soon!

Re: Wii U is NOT Dead
Not with Zelda U releasing in 2016. The only thing that could save the Wii U's sunken ship is a reveal of Metroid U & Animal Crossing U impo. Otherwise the Wii U has been kinda 'dead' for releases I want this year for me otherwise. :cWinters Thief Zero wrote:But I guess it's dead to you. Hopefully more titles you want start releasing soon!
