New Nintendo Patentso Patents

It turns out Nintendo has been making quite a few interesting patents lately, here's some of them based on what they do, and a link to an article which shows the actual patents:

- Play a game on the TV and use the gamepad to chat to a friend at the same time

- Sharing hi-scores and achievements with friends over a network, including video replays

- Fixed terminal that allows other game systems to connect wirelessly and share data

- Gamepad with pointer that allows the terminal device to determine the position in 3d space and display a virtual space

- Separate processors allowing a device to switch into eco mode

- Purchasing a game on a different device and triggering the download on the target device when it's in range.

- Real-time environment changes in games over a network

- Data compression/recompression using sound

These all sound REALLY cool, especially the 3D space sensing Gamepad patent, and the real time environment changes. And you know what, to be honest, this makes my thoughts that NX might actually end up releasing next year go away, none of these seem like they'd be for a new console, and some are even using the Gamepad.

Interesting, but not stuff I'd really like to use personally.

The position in 3D space patent seems to support the rumor that the NX will utilise augmented reality in some form.

Interesting stuff all around, they do sound like NX related patents though.

^ I mean, that would be assuming NX is compatible with the Wii U Gamepad and makes use of new features with it. Would Nintendo just be improving the Gamepad and making it feel more unique or something? If that's the case it doesn't sound as innovative as they seem to be saying. :/

That's really the only reason I don't think these are NX related, there were some that don't have to do with the Gamepad, but they're not very interesting.

While the Gamepad might just get an update and it does sound like VR will be part of the NX. No disk drive might be fine as while if they make the account system better.
