Last Year there was that SMM trailer which showed off that SMB3 and (I think...?) SMW would be in the game. That I thought was amazing. I hope there will be something big this year as well, in the form of a trailer as done last time. Razz

Well, Fighters are kinda like shooters, but Smash is one of the only fighters.

But maybe there will be awards dedicated to Nintendo and other video game franchises.

^ They're really not, and did Mortal Kombat X and a new Tekken not just release this year? :p

EDIT: Also Smash didn't even release this year. Not sure what point you were trying to make. But regardless I like your awards, I just really think those should be separate, they're completely different genres, almost nothing like each other.

Yeah Bowser, Fighting and Shooting aren't nearly similar.
Street Fighter and Goldeneye007 aren't remotely close, they're completely different genres.

The show was alright and if Nintendo could only talk about one thing they made the right choice. I'm also surprised Geoff said that on the air.

The awards were chosen wisely, although game of the year DEFINITELY should not have been Witcher 3. It's not a bad game by any means of course, but there were sooo many more deserving of the award, including ones that weren't even nominated for it. (*cough*Splatoon*cough*) It was a fine show although not as interesting as last year.

Splatoon, woo! I honestly didn't think it it would win at first. ^ And yeah, we saw soem great stuff, but it didn't leave much of an mind-blowing impression.

The Iwata tribute was indeed very honorable of the man who changed many lives. Reggie's speech reached just about everyone in the feels  Sad.

Also, my personal game of the year (which you all know is Splatoon :p) won 2 awards! Best shooter and best multiplayer game! Pretty cool.

They left out a fair amount of awards, which is odd, I feel like they should show them all off if they're going to have that many...but regardless I'm happy with most of the choices. (other than GOTY)

But Gameguy, remember, Konami says Kojima's on vacation. XD
I'm really glad he said that, take that Konami.

I'm glad Splatoon and Super Mario Maker won those awards.

Too bad I missed the awards... Razz

Splatoon should've gotten GoTY. Plus, in what way is SMM a family game?

^ Super Mario Maker? I'm not sure. It doesn't have multiplayer of any kind so I don't really see how it's the type of game you would play with family. Gameguy mentioned passing the Gamepad around, so I guess that, I have no idea. It's one of the awards I was confused with, along with GOTY, but most of them I feel were given pretty fairly so I'm not really going to complain considering I didn't agree with like any last year.

I mean, the online multiplayer is a huge chunk of the game. But yeah as for local multiplayer, there isn't much.

The 2015 show had 2.3 million viewers, and a 2016 show is very likely.

    - 2.3 million viewers
    - Game Awards 2016 show is very likely
    - next show may have eSports competition during the day of the event
    - top streaming platforms were Twitch and YouTube
    - show trended worldwide on Twitter, with more than one billion impressions with tweets using #TheGameAwards
    - this ended up doubling last year's social impact
    - more than 175,000 different people used that hashtag, writing about 279,000 tweets
    - top streaming channels saw more than half a million comments
    - Snapchat was used to deliver virtual access to the show and after party
    - money-wise, Keighley believes the show broke even this year.

Eh, I don't think it was as exciting this year as last, but the awards were more worthy of being given this year in most cases. (outside of GOTY) But it's nice there will be one next year, it's always something to look forward to.
