Jinx's Top 20 ORAS Mega Evolutions

Post by Nino on Fri Mar 25, 2016 5:26 pm

In ORAS, there were 20 new Mega Evolutions being introduced to add onto the total number of Mega Evolutions. Let's take all of them to see how much I like them.

#20

Mega Latios is my least favorite ORAS mega. It doesn't really change much out of Latios's appearance, and it just feels there. It's not that good in battle at all, because none of the stat boosts it gets make it any better, since its boosted Special Attack is negated by the fact that regular Latios does about the same amount of damage with a Life Orb or even more damage with Soul Dew.

Ooh cool.

I do like Latios quite a bit on its own, but the mega evolution feels a bit pointless, just because it really doesn't improve the stats or power all that much.

I feel like Latios just got a mega since Latias got one. I also dislike how Latios did not get that many changes to make it better.

Mega Audino is one bulky Mega Evolution, having gained the Fairy type. While I prefer other Fairy-types like Sylveon, Gardevoir, and Clefable, if you're going to play in any of the lower tiers, Mega Audino just might pull off its weight. Shame that it loses Regenerator though.

Mega Pidgeot was a much-needed buff to an otherwise useless early-game bird. Now with its boosted Special Attack and No Guard, it can throw out perfectly accurate Hurricanes to inflict massive damage. Plus it has more colorful plumage.

Both of those Pokwmon are some of my favorite Megas. Those where Pokemon that really needed  the upgrades to say the least.

Mega Steelix is one of the most physically bulky Pokemon ever. In addition, the stat boosts give it some offensive presence that helps it. Due to that giant 230 Defense, you can actually boost up its Special Defense without hindering its physical tankiness in any way. However, its ability is completely useless unless you're running sand.

Mega Steelix looks cool at least even if his ability is never that useful.

Mega Beedrill turned a complete joke Pokemon into an absolute monstrosity. Having its Attack and Speed shot way up the roof, and gaining the devastating ability Adaptability, it is one of the most threatening bugs you'll ever find. Teach it U-turn, and it can both deal a chunk of damage to anything that switches in and allow you to send in another Pokemon to finish the job. Just keep it away from priority and Choice Scarf users, because its defenses are like wet paper.

Mega Camerupt is quite the tank. With Sheer Force, it can deal a considerable amount of damage with moves like Fire Blast and Earth Power. The main problem with it is its very low Speed, but that can be played to an advantage by using Trick Room.

Mega Beedriil is quite an improvement over the regular version even if it's mega stone is a pain to find. As for Mega Camerupt the extra power sure does help even if the speed is pretty awful.

Mega Sharpedo is quite the powerhouse with Strong Jaw, which significantly increases the power of biting attacks like Crunch. After spending a turn in regular form to get Speed Boost, it can do work against some major offensive threats. It can still be easily revenge killed through priority, though, so watch out for that.

It seems to be a fan favorite out of the new Megas even if it can be killed fast. With that said Sharpedo needed the upgrade.

Beyond the admirable fact that can fire its own tree branch tail at foes, Mega Sceptile is a fast bruiser, having gained very noticeable boosts in Special Attack and Speed. It gains Lightning Rod as well, meaning it can now block Volt Switch. Just keep it away from Ice Shard and Talonflame.
