Nintendo Officially Ending Wii U Production

Nintendo is officially ending Wii U production, and very soon, this year. While this isn't a guarantee NX will launch this year, it means no new Wii U consoles will be produced after the final date. (meaning a new console will likely arrive this year or very early next year because that wouldn't last them all that long) Wii U production already stopped in Japan and has seen HUGE shortages throughout the country. This isn't surprising but I'm really disappointed. It just seems like a significantly shorter lifespan than the average Nintendo console. I mean, Game Boy Advance was only out for 3 years before the DS came along, but it still continued production and had games released for it for at least a couple years after that. It seems like that won't really be the case with Wii U based on this.

I had a very nice time playin many Wii U games so it's a bit sad that the system is ending production so soon. With that sad it's the best move from a business standpoint due to poor sales.

That's extremely disappointing. They probably won't go long without a successor so the NX could be coming sooner than expected. Hopefully that thing isn't rushed out. There's games like Color Splash and Zelda Wii U planned for later in the year. That would certainly cut potential sales once Wii U production is over. I wouldn't be surprised if those projects moved on to the successor.

I'll continue to enjoy its library. I enjoyed quite some games on the system.

I'm not very surprised by this news, the Wii U hasn't had a very good success rate as it's predecessor has which is kind of sad really. But, it's Nintendo's own fault really is how I feel, maybe if they made the Wii U more marketable to other companies then they wouldn't be so anxious to put the Wii U out of it's misery already. *Sigh* Poor Wii U we barely knew ye.

I'm just as disappointed(if this really is real). I know the console doesn't have the best sales but I was really hoping for the NX to be a third pillar, but I guess a lot of people saw it coming. At least I'll try to clear out the Wii U library before moving onto the NX.

That's a bit disappointing to here.
The Wii U is one of my favourite consoles, and I love the library of games it has to offer.
NX better be good, or Nintendo might be pulling the plug too early.

NX was always coming this year so I don't see why some people are surprised. But sad news because I really love my Wii U, I felt like it was just getting started with some great games like Pokken and Splatoon.

^ Well we all know what that has meant with Nintendo in the past. Still, I agree, we don't have 100% confirmation yet so we can't necessarily say Wii U is dead and NX is coming this year. However, there is a lot of evidence that is the case, unfortunately. We do still have Star Fox, Paper Mario, Zelda, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions (if anyone is interested in that it seems pretty niche lol) though so there is still at least some life left in the Wii U even if that's all we'll ever get.

We also have to remember that Nintendo denied there being a 3DS XL and the Wii U shortage in Japan gives the report some ground.

Guys your basically telling me to believe the rumors I hear before they're confirmed by Nintendo & not every rumor we hear is confirmed to be 100% true. =_=;

^ That's not what I'm trying to say. It just to me, even outside of this rumor, seems like there is some evidence behind NX releasing this year. Still, Wii U ending production so soon would be strange with it likely not releasing until at least the holiday season.
