NES Classic Edition Empty NES Classic Edition

Post by Winters Thief Zero Thu Jul 14, 2016 9:09 am

Nintendo just announced the NES Classic Edition, coming to NA on November 11th! (and maybe other regions around the same time I'm guessing) This is a mini replica of the NES that comes with 30 built in games, and plugs directly into your HDTV! Here are the games it includes:

    Balloon Fight™

    BUBBLE BOBBLE

    Castlevania™

    Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest™

    Donkey Kong™

    Donkey Kong Jr. ™

    DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE

    Dr. Mario™

    Excitebike™

    FINAL FANTASY®

    Galaga™

    GHOSTS’N GOBLINS®

    GRADIUS™

    Ice Climber™

    Kid Icarus™

    Kirby’s Adventure™

    Mario Bros. ™

    MEGA MAN® 2

    Metroid™

    NINJA GAIDEN

    PAC-MAN™

    Punch-Out!! ™ Featuring Mr. Dream

    StarTropics™

    SUPER C™

    Super Mario Bros.™

    Super Mario Bros. ™ 2

    Super Mario Bros. ™ 3

    TECMO BOWL

    The Legend of Zelda™

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link™
It will be priced at $59.99

WHAT IS HAPPENING?! I guess this is Nintendo's NX replacement for the holiday season since it's easier than releasing more Wii U titles, and it will also help reduce some of those NES player fan consoles.

You can also just buy the controller alone for $10.

PR email wrote:REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- If you see a Nintendo Entertainment System on store shelves this holiday shopping season, you haven’t entered a time machine. (Unless everyone around you is wearing acid-washed jeans and neon leg warmers. If that’s the case, you may have unknowingly walked through a rift in the space-time continuum.) The most likely scenario is you are setting eyes on the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition, launching in stores on Nov. 11 at a suggested retail price of $59.99. That’s right: The NES is back! But this isn’t the same NES that you fondly remember. This new nostalgia-fueled system is a near-identical, mini replica of Nintendo’s original home console and plugs directly into your high-definition TV using an included HDMI cable. The console comes complete with 30 NES games built in, including beloved classics like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN, and Kirby’s Adventure.

“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers.”
The system comes packaged with an HDMI cable, an AC adapter and one NES Classic Controller, which is patterned after the iconic design of the original NES controller. But you really just want to know the full list of 30 games, right? Feast your eyes on the fantastic collection of NES classics included with each and every system:
    Balloon Fight™
    BUBBLE BOBBLE
    Castlevania™
    Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest™
    Donkey Kong™
    Donkey Kong Jr. ™
    DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE
    Dr. Mario™
    Excitebike™
    FINAL FANTASY®
    Galaga™
    GHOSTS’N GOBLINS®
    GRADIUS™
    Ice Climber™
    Kid Icarus™
    Kirby’s Adventure™
    Mario Bros. ™
    MEGA MAN® 2
    Metroid™
    NINJA GAIDEN
    PAC-MAN™
    Punch-Out!! ™ Featuring Mr. Dream
    StarTropics™
    SUPER C™
    Super Mario Bros.™
    Super Mario Bros. ™ 2
    Super Mario Bros. ™ 3
    TECMO BOWL
    The Legend of Zelda™
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link™
There’s a little something for everyone: a nice mix of timeless favorites, cult classics and maybe even some games that you never got around to playing. Each is sure to bring back memories and produce plenty of new ones. You can even enjoy playing several of these games with two players by attaching a second NES Classic Controller, which will be sold separately at a suggested retail price of $9.99. A Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro can also be used (each sold separately).
When connected to a Wii Remote controller, the NES Classic Controller can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games on a Wii U or Wii system. Playing these retro games using a retro controller makes the experience that much more authentic. And if you ever need to step away from the NES Classic Edition in the middle of a tough level (or take a break to call one of Nintendo’s helpful Game Counselors*), don’t worry about losing any hard-earned progress. Each game has multiple suspend points, so you can start where you left off at a later time, no passwords needed.
What’s old is new again with the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition. Relive past glories. Finish off that boss you never beat. Save the galaxy and rescue the princess!
*Please only call if you have indeed entered a time machine. The Game Counselor program no longer exists in 2016.

I'm guessing Nintendo is trying to get older fans back with Pokemon Go and the NES Classic Edition. I also think the system is a good deal since every game would pretty much be $2. As for myself I might buy it since I have been looking into some of those games like StarTropics and Double Dragon II: THE Revenge.

Eh, I'm not that interested in it.. Though I know that my brother would love to get this, being a fan of old school gaming.. So I could get this for him for his birthday (or Christmas) & know he'd have fun playing on it.

What? That's fantastic! This is very surprising, quite a pleasant surprise. It's has a great selection of games right there, I'm glad they included Punch Out!! in this, it's not that surprising though. It even has an NES controller that looks like it functions like a Wii classic controller, very nice. I want this, there's quite a few NES games I haven't played and have always wanted to like Castlevania in this pack. It also has some I already have like Punch Out!! and Zelda 2, but I don't mind. I'd like to experience The Legend of Zelda like this.

Looks pretty cool, i love how they included Gradius, however i haven't beat it just yet, but 30 games in one? that's pretty rad, it still looks cool though. Very Happy

Post by Winters Thief Zero Sun Aug 07, 2016 11:22 pm

Here's some new details on different modes and saving:

What is interesting is that we can play through HDMI, but there will be different modes of how we will see the screen – a mode simulating the retro aspect of our old CRT screens, there will be a mode which can be at the resolution of the modern screens in 4:3 format, and a pixel perfect mode which will display each pixel as a square, so people can have fun with this too.

Yes, there will be permanent save points and instant temporary saves to be able to resume and that’s for every single of the 30 games, so we don’t have to worry if we don’t have a password, or restart right at the beginning…”

It's pretty cool they're adding all these different display modes! And save points is a must of course. The system for it seems better than on VC too.

They have to give people a reason to buy this system after all and I'm really happy about the saving since the no saving is why I find it difficult to play most old NES games again.

I'm glad they will have the option of permanent and temporary save points. The old password system was a bit of a pain to deal with now and the lack of saves made some NES games really annoying.

I also like the different display modes. A very nice addition. Personally, I'd use the retro aspect of an old CTR screen. I'd also try the pixel perfect display.

Japan will be getting the Famicom Classic and it will be coming with 2 controllers unlike the NES Classic.

It's nice Japan also gets something else for the holiday season.

The Classic Mini Famicom looks very nice. I'm surprised the Famicom version wasn't revealed before the NES Edition was revealed. Good thing they're getting it, and with two controllers as well! Would be interesting if they released a Mini R.O.B in the future but Gyromite and Stack Up aren't installed on the systems so that's not going to happen.

I didn't even think about that, I honestly thought it had been announced for Japan at the same time they announced the NES Classic Edition. But it's good to know they're getting their variant too!
