During the Q and A session during Nintendo's Q2 financial briefing Miyamoto was asked about ways to expand the Nintendo IP outside of video games and anime series was one of his answers.
A7: Miyamoto: We want to make anime for Pikmin, Star Fox, Yoshi, etc. and distribute it freely, or integrate into games.
We did see shorts for those 3 series in recent years. I'm going to say that Yoshi would be the first of those series to get a show and I can see it landing on Disney or Nick.
A7: Miyamoto: We hold the Kirby IP and it’s growing in Europe. It’s selling in Spain; watched in places w/out game hardware. https://t.co/6QmqWdFlwA
