    I thought the story of this game was very good (at least for a Mario game) Razz. In comparison with the original, I think they worked a lot harder on this one. Indeed, Peach was still kidnapped, I just thought it was cool that she was kidnapped by X-Nauts instead of Bowser.

    Something I like about the RPG games, Bowser isn't the main bad guy, the X-Nauts were pretty interesting villains, collecting Crystal Stars to unlock the Hidden Treasure, capturing Peach for reasons that are spoiler oriented. The story is good for what it is, and it isn't super complex, it's simple and understandable, which is good for a Mario game.
