Future DLC?

I was wondering...
Reggie said Mario Kart 8 had a long life ahead of it.
First free Mercedes-Benz karts, then Zelda, F-Zero and Excitebike crossovers followed by Animal Crossing.
But what about real new Mario tracks and characters?
I mean Nabbit, Bowser Jr., Birdo, Diddy Kong, Petey Piranha, King Boo, they're all missing.

I wouldn't be surprised if they added a DK DLC for extra kongs and stages based around like Tropical Freeze, but if they're adding more DLC for 8 then I'd expect it to be like April or later of 2015, to try and get people to pick it back up to play more.

^That's what I thought.
Diddy, Dixie, Funky would be ideal.
And bring pack DK Pass and DK's Jungle Parkway.
They could make something out of it.

That would certainly be fine with me, whether they do the DK DLC or something else, as long as there's even more content after the Animal Crossing DLC, I'll be happy. (of course, I'm still fine with the amount we're getting now)

Also, they could bring back Diddy and Funky Kong of course, but it would be cool to have Cranky as well. Actually, while they're at it, they should add in all of the elder characters from the Mario series too, like Professor E. Gadd and Toadsworth.

Reggie could have just been talking about long time sales. I like the characters you guys brought up but, I also want to see Plessie in a 3D World pack.
