Sankei are reporting that Nintendo and Sharp have struck a deal for Sharp to supply Nintendo with a new "free-form" LCD display that is to be part of one of Nintendo's future pieces of hardware, with the website speculating it either be for the upcoming QOL system or the successor to the 3DS.
Sankei also report that their source claims Nintendo are experimenting with a design where there is a hole in the middle of the display.
