Samus is a powerful character. Though I never used her much since she is slow. As for her attacks Charge Shot is her best move if you can charge it up, Missile is a nice move to start the battle with, Screw Attack is a nice recovery move and Bomb is an alright move.

Donkey Kong is a powerful character with decent speed. Is draw back is his huge hint box though. As for his moves Giant Punch is a good move, Headbutt is a decent move, Spinning Kong is a not so great recovery move and Hand Slap is a powerful move when used at the right time.

DK was much more useful in Melee than he is in Smash Wii U, I don't tend to play as him much in either game though.

Yoshi is a character with good speed and he a bit of a tricky character. As for his moves Egg Lay is a decent move, Egg Roll is a defense option, Egg Throw is a great attack if you can get the timing down and Yoshi Bomb is a decent attack.

Dr. Mario is a powerful character who is a bit on the slow side. As for his moves Megavitamins is a nice move for chip damage, Super Sheet is nice at sending attacks back, Super Jump Punch is a awful recovery and Dr. Tornado is a great attack if timed right.

Mario is a character anyone can pick up and play. As for his attacks Fireball is nice for chip damage, Cape is a nice reflect move, Super Jump Punch is a awful recovery and Dr. Tornado is a good move if you can pull it off.

Pikachu is a fast character with good attack power. As for his attacks Thunder Jolt is nice for chip damage, Skull Bash is a decent attack, Quick Attack is a nice recovery move and Thunder is a great attack.

Roy is a powerful character with a poor air game. as for his attacks Fire Blade is the best move in the game if you can let it go before it does damage to you, : Double- Edge Dance has a nice fire effect, Blazer is a decent recovery move even if he is put into a helpless state after using it and his Counter does more then Marth's.

I always preferred Marth to Roy...but now I tend to use Lucina and Ike quite a bit more than Marth. Roy just wasn't really that fun to use in my opinion.

Luigi still plays like Mario. I feel like he plays better then Mario and he has a good air game. As for his moves Fireball is a nice chip damage move, Green is a nice recovery, Super Jump Punch is a bit better then Mario's and Dr. Tornado is a good move.

Zelda is a slow character with powerful attacks. As for her attacks Nayru's Love is a nice move if you can time it right, Din's Fire is a powerful move if you time it right and Farore's Wind is a nice recovery move.

Bowser is a slow but, powerful character. As for his moves Fire Breath is a spot damage move, Koopa Klaw is a decent attack, Whirling Fortress is a decent recover move and Bowser Bomb is a nice move.

Mr Game & Watch is a hard to use character since his attacks have a set time before you can land most of the them. As for his moves Chef is a decent move, Judgment is a risk and reward attack, Fire is a good move and Oil Panic is a good move.

Link is one of those characters there for starters and although his attacks are decent he is a slow character. As for his attacks Bow is good for chip damage, Boomerang is good to deflect items, Spin Attack is a nice recovery move and Bomb is a good attack.
