Limited Characters for Posting?

Is there a certain amount you can type into a post? I wanted to say more in the Unnecessary Sequels topic but I was restricted from typing in more.


Does this apply to everyone or is this only happening to me?


I've never encountered this problem but that might be because I don't normally make really long posts. ._.

Uh, yea this is an everyone problem every where, all forumz have this kind of problem. Some rp posts I've seen have had prt1 & prt2 posts for them. Just break up your post into two different parts or more.

Really? This is my forum and I've never even encountered the issue...I certainly haven't set a limitation, but the software itself might not allow that many characters.

If you can't fit enough in the post, the temporary fix would be to spit the post in half and just make two separate posts in a row like SirSlifer said. (I'll completely understand) Smart idea though, thanks. :3

MPL and MPF never had this problem, so that's why I was wondering. I've made lengthly posts there before in the mafia games, so that's how I know.

I thought maybe it could'a been because of forumotion. MPL and MPF are/were both paid forums, so that could be why.

For the time being, though, I'll use the split method. I didn't want to double post... lol

But really it's odd because I've made some VERY lengthy posts on here before...I don't know, I'll look into the issue. I'm not really sure how much more you had to post in the thread, but what you did post really wasn't all that much...

Actually, it never happened to me, and I never knew that there was a limit for characters. Probably because I usually tend to post simply.

Something else I hadn't considered is the kind of device your posting on the forum with. Some devices, also have character limits. So it may not even be the forum, it could be your device.

Forumotion actually has a character post limit which is 65,000 characters. I don't think Zero himself or any admin in any forumotion forum can change the post character limit.

Best solution is to split up some of your words in 1st post into the 2nd post so you wouldn't have this character post limit issue. This is where double posting is reasonable at certain cases.

I'm lead to believe that there is a limit on SMF, though it might be (don't quote) in the range of 125,000 characters or something. I may or may not have triggered said limit in that Gilgamesh vs Archer fic I wrote back in 2010... (I never completed it, lol)

Having said that, I can't for see myself posting MASSIVE WALLS OF TEXT here lol

Weird, must be so big that even my sign-up topic couldn't even reach it, and I had a lot more words on it at one point.

Well, as I said it's not just forumotion that has this issue; all forums have limited characters that you can post: Zetaboards, proboards, phpbb, all of them. So it's not just a one forum problem; it's all over the place. Still every forum deal with it differently then another.

^ Yep. But as I said I'm perfectly fine with you guys double posting if you manage to reach the character limit. :3
