Splatoon's Tofu Prototype

Nintendo finally showed some gameplay of the Tofu prototype at GDC.



I can't believe they had over 70 different design proposals and it's hard to believe the Tofu was Splatoon at one point with how much the game evolved.

It's really cool to see legitimate actual prototype footage of ANY game, especially years after its release, and even better a game like Splatoon. But even more interesting to me were some of the additional screenshots we got from when they used rabbits as the main characters, or even when they seemed to be using Mario characters. I think it's really cool how they only tried to fit the characters to the game after coming up with the gameplay concept, and had no plans for it beforehand.
