I would've preferred a different Yoshi game to one with this yarn gimmick, maybe they should've just stuck to Kirby with this, or not made another yarn game at all.

Hang on a second... it may look different, but that's not to say that the mechanics don't work like a Yoshi game. He may fill up with yarn rather than eating it, but he could still maybe lay eggs with the yarn he fills with...
When I first asked RTDL to Epic Yarn I did mean mostly the mechanics, because when I looked at Epic Yarn gameplay (when it first came out, mind you) it did still look like a Kirby Game, taking enemies abilities and what-not.

Actually, in Epic Yarn you don't take enemy abilities. 
But I get what you're saying, and of course we still have to wait for more info to come in before knowing exactly what's to come in this game. I'd expect more at e3.

^ Yeah, that's kinda where I was coming from, like you mentioned when Kirby turned into a tank in that one level, he could turn into one of those from Yoshi's Island. (or something new which would be better)
