AC NL: Ice furniture guide

*Note: Any thing linked outside of this forum is to give the source as to where I found the information about how to obtain this furniture set in New Leaf; no more no less.



I was asked recently by a few of my friends on New Leaf as to how to go about obtaining this set. I of course had no idea as some information I had about it at the time was next to nothing.. That is until I stumbled across this: wiki space. It told me the first of many clues that I had to follow in order to figure out how to obtain this elusive set. As you can see on the right side of the screen it says that this set is obtained by getting it from: Mommy Snowman.

Next the how to's. According to this journal Special snowflakes will fall when it snows, making a specific sound...



Catch them! Then make a snowman. But not just any snowman -- a Mother Snowman! There's a whole family of snowmen now that do different things! When you give a Mother Snowman these special snowflakes...



You get Ice series furniture! How cool (literally)! The original Snowman series furniture are also in the game.

So then it's down to: Ok now how do I go about making the mother snowman then? Then I found this answer:

The 4 snowmen (well....the family) are easily identified by size. The mother is the 2nd smallest, bigger than the child, but smaller than the regular snowman. Funny enough last winter I could never build the normal snowman, and end with either the mother or the father. I just quit making them altogether.

It's a little difficult to explain, but the mother should be as tall as your character. The bottom, bigger snowball should be chin-level, and the top snowball should be shoulder-height:

Mun is that going to be a lot of work to get. Worth it; but still: wow.. XD

Don't have the game yet, but how hard is it to make a snowman, because reading that makes it sound like it's quite a bother.

^ Yeah it does sound annoying and difficult. But I am gonna want that Ice furniture set. :3

I guess I'll have to go back to this thread when it actually starts snowing, I mean right now it's summer, so it is a bit of a strange time to be posting this. (unless you live in an area where it's winter)

Well yea the snowmen are a bit hard to create. They were a pain to figure out in City Folk and have since evolved in New Leaf it seems. Well the only reason I'm posting this information now is because some of my friends who have New Leaf tend to time travel which can be done in this game. I personally do not partake in time traveling myself but I do know of some who have and do.

At first my thought was that getting the ice set had something to do with using the sapphire ore which is pretty abundant in the game. So I thought that maybe I could save back up enough ore to give to Cyrus and he could craft the ice set for me by using the sapphire ore.. I mean he can craft a random piece from the gold set with just 3 pieces of gold ore and enough bellage in order to do it so I figured maybe it'd be the same thing with the ice set. I wasn't aware that the ice set was a winter based activity in which you had to craft a mother snowman in order to obtain said set. Still at least we all have this knowledge now instead of later; this way at least were all prepared. :3

YES! I am looking forward to collecting that set when the time comes around.

Looks so beautiful... Also, I really wish they'd bring back the Creepy furniture from City Folk. That was awesome as well.

Considering I'm getting the game right before the start of Winter, I'll try my best to get this set of glorious ice furniture to decorate my stuff.
