They said that the trackers that show where the planes are went off, and apparently that's not the easiest thing to do on accident so, there's that.

Re: Missing Plane
WE GOT OUR ANSWER, EVERYONE!
"Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razar said Monday that a new analysis of electronic data shows that the flight of Malaysia airliner with 239 people aboard "ended" in a remote area of the Indian ocean and indicated there were no survivors.
Just before the prime minister spoke, Malaysian Airlines sent a brief text message to family members of the passengers saying, "(w)e have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived."
The prime minister said the new information, based on an unprecedented analysis of satellite data from Inmarsat and by British accident investigators, that shows that the plane went down in the southern Indian Ocean west of Perth, Australia.
"This is a remote location, far from any possible landing site," he said in a brief, televised statement. "It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that according to this new data flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean.""

Would seem the popular consensus came true.
Could also be they gave up. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

Now the reason to why this happened is what I wanna know.

Re: Missing Plane
That's pretty bad having 239 people just die like that. But I guess we all knew it was going to happen, but I do wonder why they haven't tried to actually look for the plane. (even if there are no survivors)
And I also want to know why it happened.
And I also want to know why it happened.

It's just a stupid catchphrase. Nothing more.

"The payments of $5,000 per passenger should help families cope with the immediate financial strain caused by a long search for the plane. But the airline is eventually likely to pay next of kin compensation that ranges into the millions of dollars per passenger."

We know your loved ones are no longer here but have this money as compensation!

This grosses me out so much.

Re: Missing Plane
Yeah money can't replace family. But at least they're doing something...it's not like after they die they can just be resurrected from the dead and be brought back to their family. They didn't know this would happen, obviously only the pilot knew, so this is probably the best they can do.

Re: Missing Plane
Well they do have advanced uh... "things" in the water to help them locate it. But you're probably right with how long it's been and where it is. Well I'll be listening to the news to see if anything is ever found regardless.

Re: Missing Plane
Well, according to a cbs new broadcast that I watched today, the black box that pings the location of the plane; is on it's last day, since the battery for it doesn't last very long. So my guess is that they'll most likely never find the remains of the plane now. :/

Re: Missing Plane
I never thought about that. Well, if somehow the plane is found like, right now as I post this, it likely won't be found at all. But you never know, in the future remains could be found at some point, but I doubt that. (in fact that probably can't happen depending on where it is :p)
