Too bad I don't live in Canada. But that's pretty cool. Do you plan to go there Luma and try the Splatoon flavors?

The reviews are in?

As you can see most sites don't have a final score since the online has been limited. So the next week or so will make or break it for the media.

Re: Splatoon
Well the reviews that ARE out have been really positive. I do find it humorous that one of them called it "the most original and enjoyable shooter of the generation" and rated it a 7. Not that that's a terrible score, but you'd think the best shooter of the generation would have something higher...

The co-executive of Steven Universe, Ian Jones-Quartey, also plays Splatoon. He posted this on his Tumblr account:
I believe that Ian drew the picture.

Never heard of Steven Universe, but great Miiverse post! It's good to see Splatoon popularity of course, I like seeing all the people playing and posting about the game everywhere.

Re: Splatoon
Here some new info from an interview.
Coming from a Nintendo Dream interview with directors Yusuke Amano and Tsubasa Sakaguchi as well as producer Hisashi Nogami...
On level cap being raised:
Sakaguchi: Er… That is also under investigation currently… We originally expected level 20 to require a nice amount of time to play.
Nogami: [The leveling up has been] so fast that it makes me worry about players’ daily life…
On character customization:
ND: “The more character customization, the better” is the usual rule in online games. But you can only customize the eye and skin color of your Inkling.
Sakaguchi: Perhaps everyone has forgotten that Inklings are still unknown characters for people. Inklings are newcomers that just came out.
ND: Ah, that’s right (laughs).
Sakaguchi: I think it’s better to tightly narrow down “it’s this” when presenting a new character to everyone.
Nogami: If we suddenly had variation like three hairstyles with braid or bun, people wouldn’t consider them as the same thing [character]. Therefore we limited the customization to the minimum with skin and eye color.
Future events:
Nogami: Talking about future events, first there’s Splatfest. Please look forward to those.
Nogami said that he'd “like to have one Splatfest in every three weeks or so in the beginning. Also things like new weapons and maps are under investigation.”

Re: Splatoon
So basically what he's saying is that the level cap will be increased at some point! Hopefully it's sooner rather than later...but it's good it's being increased at all. So many people are level 20 now, I have been for weeks.

Re: Splatoon
290k the month after launch in the US only on a single console, not to mention the one with the smallest user base this gen? That's pretty fantastic haha. I'm glad Splatoon has been doing so well! It's probably nearing the 2 million mark worldwide by now!

The big update has been dated for August 6th.
So next Thursday for the big update and I guess new items mean new specials for weapons. I also think a Nintendo Direct will go over some of the info.

Re: Splatoon
Awesome, I'm really hyped, August 6th seems like a pretty good date too. I find it interesting they didn't mention new maps. Could this mean they'll still be going with the consistent mini updates after the big one and those new maps will be part of those? I kind of hope so, I like having updates every few days, keeps me interested.
EDIT: OMG THE UPDATE IS SOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN I THOUGHT, also, the mini updates will continue throughout the rest of summer and even are extended into fall!
In addition to what Gameguy said, they will also be increasing the level cap from level 20 to level 50, as well as adding S and S+ ranks for ranked battle. It will add the Ink Bucket and Splatling Gun, which are actually both brand new weapon types as well, and 40 new pieces of gear.
