Nintendo Could Have Monthly Wii U Releases After August Empty Nintendo Could Have Monthly Wii U Releases After August

Post by Winters Thief Zero Sat Jun 21, 2014 4:38 pm

So I just realized earlier today, starting in September with Hyrule Warriors' release, Nintendo has enough Wii U games to have a new big game released every single month for over a year. And due to the release dates confirmed (like first half of 2015) I think they might be trying to do that. And that's not including games that will likely be announced over the next year. Does anyone want monthly Wii U releases? Or is it too soon for a new game after one is released? Personally I think they should do this, as the Wii U needs games, and this would be the best way to do it if they're already going to be releasing within that time period.

Also, I have a list of the months I think Wii U games will be released in:

    September 2014 - Hyrule Warriors
    October - Bayonetta 2 (+1)
November - Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Devil's Third
    Decemeber - Super Smash Bros.
    January 2015 - Mario Maker
    February - Yoshi's Woolly World
    March - Mario Party 10
    April - Splatoon
May - Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
    June - Xenoblade Chronicles X
July - Star Fox Wii U
August - Other game announced later?
September - Other game announced later?
    October - Zelda Wii U

Devil's Third isn't coming out this year. Star Fox probably won't be coming out next summer since it was only a tech demo and they weren't comfortable showing it on the big stage. You're also forgetting the other two tech demos Miyamoto showed if something will be made with them.

Mario Party 10 seems closer to a brain fart than a big game.

^ Really? I originally put Devil's Third in 2015, but I thought I read something that said it was releasing in 2014. Nintendo said they'd like to have Star Fox done in about a year, which I do kind of doubt, but I put it there just because they said that. Miyamoto said the tech demos might be part of Star Fox, and if they aren't, I doubt they will be more than just $3 eShop games...I guess you're right about Mario Party 10, but it'll likely sell well since the others sold millions of copies. So in that respect it's a big game.

    January 2015 - Devil's Third
    February - Splatoon
March - Mario Party 10, Yoshi's Woolly World
    April - Mario Maker
May - Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
    June - Xenoblade Chronicles X
July - TBA: Animal Crossing U
    August - Metroid U?
    September - Star Fox U

The only thing that was promised was a 2014 reveal, and it's been in developmental hell since THQ went down the sinkhole. It's got to be remade into a Wii U game as well; it was a last gen PS3/360 title to begin with before Nintendo "saved" it. If it was coming out this year they probably would have said so. Nintendo's got a lot on their plate at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if they left it until E3 next year for a proper reveal for Star Fox. Judging from the Miyamoto interview it's still at the ideas stage, and he's going to take his time on it as we've seen with Pikmin 3.

Oh yeah you're completely right, it'll sell millions but over the years it's been slowly sliding down the brain fart scale into the miasma of smelliness.

^ Pikmin 3 took a VERY long time to develop, but Miyamoto did say Star Fox for Wii U has been in development for 6 years now. It started development on Wii, and was moved over to Wii U in 2013. So if that's really the case, it's been in development for about the same time as Pikmin 3, starting development on Wii as well. So while it does sound like they're still coming up with new ideas, I think a release in a little over a year isn't too far-fetched.

    @Gameguy
Mario Maker will not take until April to finish, in fact, I'm surprised it wasn't set for release in summer of THIS year. It's just a level editor...I know they still need to add a ton of objects and whatnot, but they already have all the assets they need in the past Mario games. I think January 2015 makes sense like I said before. And Splatoon will likely take awhile to finish too. But I guess it makes sense for Zelda to release in December, I wouldn't be surprised if it got delayed to 2016 too.

Yeah but do they really mean by development? If they were hard at work and Miyamoto didn't make anything else during that time then it probably would be already done or very close to it. They probably talked about it a lot and had written SlippyXKrystal fanfiction, or talked about the millions of possible ways of getting the Command characters in there.

Also as a counterpoint to Mario Maker in Jan what Nintendo showed was a very limited and vague version of the game at E3. You could only edit up to 4 or 5 screens, either they aren't that far along or they just picked a very early version of the game from the dustbin.

I know it was an early version, but I just feel like it can't take them much time to create a Mario level editor. They're barely adding anything new, just the enemy stacks and wings. I hope that if it's going to take them awhile to make the game, that they're adding new powerups, new ways to play, etc. Otherwise I doubt it will take that long to develop it. (don't they already have a Mario level editor for development of NSMBU?)
