Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (New Nintendo 3DS)

It seems like the popular Wii game will be coming to the New 3DS at some point,



I think it's a great idea that Nintendo is doing this since the Wii game is hard to find and I think it will get more people into the game. With that said it should also be coming to the regular 3DS.

It seems like Nintendo has also announced a new 3DS which includes an extra analog nub much like the PSP one (Circle Pad Pro anyone?) Something which hasn't been widely reported on is that this Xenoblade 3DS port is only for this new version of the 3DS.

Now excuse my French but that is complete balls. It's going to take a lot more for me to buy a new "console" for a game that I already have. And this is the game they pick to shift a slightly different 3DS re-imagining. A 4 year old Wii RPG. Well done Nintendo, you screwed up. You lost a sale, and probably a few more. This is a really sneaky and crummy way of trying to usher in a new hardware generation, now I'm worried what else will be exclusive for this "new" 3DS.

I called it! I knew Nintendo would remake Xenoblade Chronicles! I just didn't think it would be in this fashion...Right now this is the only New 3DS exclusive game. Of course, there probably won't be many more, because it's just a redesign, right? Or is this a whole new thing? Either way, it's good they're remaking it, but I would've assumed on Wii U, not New 3DS. Weird. Does it have any new features? Or is it just a direct port with 3D?

Xenoblade Chronicles did have me interested, but to sneak the port in in as a title only playable via the New 3DS? That is incredibly devious. Many already can't tell the difference between the Wii and the Wi U - I really don't get why Nintendo would slip in this title exclusively for the new 3DS as opposed to the original 3DS. 

It's not like this is the jump from a new generation from the DS to the 3DS. The new 3DS is just a slightly updated 3DS much like the DSi was for the DS from what I'm seeing...we didn't get games exclusive to the DSi now did we?

^ The thing is, Xenoblade Chronicles MOST CERTAINLY would not run well (if at all) on a regular 3DS. The New 3DS is much more powerful compared to the original one, which is why this game is a New 3DS exclusive rather than being available for both. I have a feeling this will be one of very few New 3DS exclusvies, just because it wouldn't run on the original model for 3DS. Xenoblade is a VERY big game on Wii, you know. I have a feeling they might do a special deal for this game, like being able to get it for a reduced price with the purchase of the New 3DS.

While it is true that Xenoblade Chronicles is big on the Wii, the idea of the New 3DS exclusive games baffles me. I understand that this game is probably one of the exceptions; however, it surprised me honestly. 

The New 3DS from looks alone doesn't seem at all much different from the original 3DS and has several new features within the system itself. It isn't considerably different much like how the GameBoy Color was to the Super GameBoy or how the DSi to the DS. Heck, the Wii U is completely different from the Wii; however, people still mix those two up. 

I kinda viewed the new 3DS as the GBA SP variant of the original GameBoy Advance. A new design to feel/look better overall and better memory as well. Wasn't expecting exclusive games to it; however. Personal rant of mine though I'm not sure how I stand with this. Xenoblade Chronicles is beautiful, don't get me wrong - but this idea of making it exclusive to the new 3DS was shocking to me. You're probably right though with the frame rate the game requires in order to be playable on a handheld.

Tbh...I'm surprised they didn't release this for the Wii U instead.

^ Well...I see where you're coming from now. You shouldn't have to buy a New 3DS just to play Xenoblade is what you're getting at right? It is a bit annoying that they'd only let you play it if you pay for a brand new handheld. However, you must be forgetting that the Game Boy Color had exclusive games, and the DSi also had exclusive games. It only makes sense that the New 3DS will also have exclusives. The reason I say it'll likely be one of the few is because the DSi only had 2 or 3 actual game carts that could only work on that console. (sure there were DSiWare games too, but the old 3DS already has the eShop) So I'm expecting the same thing here. Xenoblade will be one of a couple of games that make good use of the New 3DS' more powerful and improved hardware. But at least it's only a remake. You can still easily purchase the Wii version and play it on there just fine.

Also, the frame rate STILL looks terrible even on the New 3DS judging by the trailer, lol.

Yeah, you have a point, but I do hope that all future 3DS games aren't exclusive to it. Perhaps I jumped off ship for a moment there, but I'll admit - the new 3DS does look rather nice too. Smash is coming out too so I'm looking forward to that game most of all for now. xD

I think the only difference with the new 3DS version that's releasing is that it's exclusive to the new 3DS releasing that has an extra gamepad added to the front of the console (close to where the A,B,X,Y buttons are). But yea; I'm not getting Xenoblade again when my Wii version is the superior one (impo).

^ Yeah, as far as I can tell, the Wii version is better. But personally, I actually think I'd like the New 3DS version better...I never played much of the Wii one because it annoyed me to have to play it on my TV. This would be easier for me to play because I can pick up and put it down at any time. I always tend to play handheld games more.

Sounds like a good time to release it! Although I was kind of hoping it would be releasing on New 3DS XL launch day, but at least it's soon after. Looks just like the Wii version, but on a handheld. I almost want to sell my Wii disc for more money so I can buy the remake when I get a New 3DS XL instead. (assuming I do) Although I'm not sure I'd want to risk losing save data.

I think after seeing the direct I'm more impressed with the 3DS version & plan to get it since I'm planning on getting a new 3ds xl now. xp So I plan to have both the Wii & 3DS version cause I can. :p

Nice. I might get the 3DS version myself but from how it sounded; is that it could also be played on the normal 3DS's too. It's a bit confusing the way that the video talked about it if it's only to be played on the NEW 3DS impo.. :/ Maybe I missed something so I'll re-watch it later today.
