How would you compare the original GBA versions of Ruby/Sapphire to the 3DS remakes? (based on graphics, and any updates to the game itself)

I haven't played them just yet, but from what I've seen, the 3DS version looks so much better than the originals. It's to be expected with the huge hardware leap from GBA to 3DS, but it's still kind of surprising how much they improved it. Looks like it was remade from the ground up.

I would go with the 3DS version already since it adds so much more like the Dex Nav., the Mega's from X and Y, a storyline for the contests and so tons of other things.

I only played the demo but what I've played it seems like a nice improvement. Of course it's visually better but it has tons of things from Pokemon X and Y most notably mega evolution. The music is pretty cool but the original has a different feel to me. The game play is definitely improved because I enjoyed X and Y's with the fairy type and stuff.

Obviously this goes to 3DS version, it has improvements like the split of Physical Special Moves, and a Fairy Type.

Only thing I don't in the 3DS version is being able to sneak up & catch Pokemon in the grass that you can spot waggling it's tail. It kind of looks like their stalking some one in the game... D: Other then that; yea of course the 3DS version is better graphically compared to the GBA version: DUH.

Well, there's two ways you can see this:

Which version to we prefer... or which version is more technologically advanced and thus superior?

Because of course, with the advancements from the GBA to 3DS OR/AS is going to piss over the GBA in a lot of aspects. Additional story content, improved graphics, enhanced mechanics... you name any one element in the GBA titles and it's already somehow been vastly improved.

However, when it comes to what version I would just like to pick up and play I'd go for the GBA version still.
Just like how I said in my EXP Share post, I do feel that the series is starting to lose it's challenge.. where as R/S/E don't have as many shortcuts of buffs to help you get along.
The game don't look visually impressive as OR/AS but I still have a soft spot for my 2D Pokemon games, call it Nostalgia or what but...
Also, R/S/E has more connectivity with other games, be it Coliseum, XD or silly things like Box or Channel, with a load of various consoles to be able to play it on, even 2 ways of playing it on a TV!

I can't say R/S/E is better than OR/AS... but even if it's all just nostalgia driven reasons, I think if I was going to give one a personal replay... I'd just go with R/S/E!
