Alright, I was planning to simply use the other thread for the Game of the Year, but I decided to make a separate one for going through the nominees and voting for TNFS Game of the Year 2014! Before you vote on the poll, you can always choose to read through our nominees! (I chose whichever games had 2 or more nominations, but I also wanted at least one game per console, so PC gets all 3 of it's nominations, just to clarify ^^)
(You have no idea how long it took to make these descriptions )
- Nominee 1:
Mario Kart 8 for Wii U is the newest in the fan favorite kart racing series. With the returning air gliding, underwater segments, and bike riding from the previous recent Mario Kart titles, there is also the addition of anti-gravity, making for some of the most creative and dynamic courses in the entire series. The new crossover DLC featuring Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing characters and tracks based off of F-Zero, ExciteBike, and more makes for even more exciting multiplayer.
- nominee 2:
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is the long-awaited fourth (or fifth?) title in the Smash Bros. series! Fight as your favorite Nintendo all-stars, including some strange but great new additions such as Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, and even Duck Hunt! There are also some great new modes like 8-Player Smash, Smash Tour, and more.
- nominee 3:
Bayonetta 2 for Wii U is the sequel to critically acclaimed Bayonetta. (this one being even more well-received than the original!) Fight as Bayonetta to beat up the bad guys and save her friend Jeanne.
- nominee 4:
Little Big Planet 3 for PlayStation 4 is the newest in this innovative platformer series. You can play as Sack Boy, but also brand new characters including Oddsock, Swoop, and Big Toggle, each with their own abilities. The artstyle now looks even better with the PS4's improved graphics capabilities.
- nominee 5:
Sunset Overdrive for Xbox One is an open world third person shooter game where you explore Sunset City, where you can ride on grind rails, ziplines, and more to defeat the mutant monsters attacking the city.
- nominee 6:
Dragon Age: Inquisition for PC is the newest game in the RPG series, where you can explore a massive world. There is a brand new battle system in place, differing from previous titles in the series, where you must use more critical thinking than before.
- nominee 7:
Valkyria Chronicles for PC is a mix between a tactical RPG strategy game, and a third person shooter, where you must strategize to defeat the opposing team.
- nominee 8:
South Park: Stick of Truth for PC is an RPG game based off of the South Park cartoon, where South Park characters take over the JRPG roles. The game is comedic as it's based off of the show, being a comedy.
- nominee 9:
Kirby: Triple Deluxe for Nintendo 3DS is the newest title in the main series Kirby platformer series. Now with the addition of two planes, there are some very clever level designs making use of the new feature. The levels are also more dynamic and fun to play through. There are brand new copy abilities to make use of, and the great Kirby music is as great as ever.
- nominee 10:
Bravely Default for Nintendo 3DS is a classic JRPG from Square Enix, being similar to the classic Final Fantasy titles on NES. However, it makes the addition of a brave and default system in the battles, where you can default to save brave attacks and have them be more powerful in later turns, or brave now to attack.
