Previous Character Ideas

So, the developers said they had many ideas for playable characters other than squids.
I thought at first Mario would make to sell more, but actually, this way, I think kids wouldn't buy it anyway, and without Mario, older gamers might actually find it better, as it isn't watered down for younger gamers.

Macho men! I mean, I'm glad they changed to their current form, but the idea of having macho men as the main playable characters for the game just sounds hilarious. XD I can even imagine them in the Splatoon artstyle.

I didn't know about the other ideas. I knew it was planned to be a Mario game. I love Mario, but I think it being a new game is better. I voted for animals. Animals would have been cool, though the current squid design is really good.

Macho men sound hilarious but I prefer the squid design. I think they didn't go with it because Team Fortress 2 was already a shooter with some Macho men, though I don't know the reason why they didn't choose that idea.
