The green shell Lakitu is the one who watches over the race. I just called the playable one Red Shell since that's what many people call him.

I also never liked Baby Peach that much but, at least she was playable in Yoshi's Island DS unlike Baby Daisy and it seems like Nintendo turns to her as the second playable character after Baby Mario now.

I never was a fan of Honey Queen but, I was fine with her being in Mario Kart 7 since it added a heavy weight female character and I would not mind seeing her return in Mario Kart 8.

It seems like Dry Bowser turns up in at least 2 Mario games a year now. I also like his design a little bit but, there's still better characters that could have been added over him.

Dry Bowser has been playable before? That's a bit strange. My guess for 24 is King Boo.

No, King Boo won't be out until around the top 12.

Funky Kong was always one of my favorite Donkey Kong characters but, in Mario Kart Wii, he was the most overused character in the game due to his speed boost. With that said, I would not mind if he returned for Mario Kart 8. However, I think Dixie or Cranky will be playable over him.

And to think Funky Kong was my original guess. >_> I knew you liked him though.

I kind of like Baby Luigi but, since he's only been playable in Mario & Luigi Partners in Time I  understand why Nintendo picks Baby Peach as the second playable baby now. He would have been a bit higher if he was playable in one of the Yoshi Island games though.

I was never a fan of Birdo but, it has show up in quite a few different Mario games as a boss.

Baby Luigi is now playable in Yoshi's Island 3DS though.

My guess for 21 is Dry Bones? I think he was in Wii although I can't remember.

A few more characters will be out before Dry Bones.

I was never that big of a fan of Waluigi since he only turns up in the spinoffs games. I also think I was one of the only people who did not care when he was left out of Mario Kart 7.

I think Toadette is a cool character but, during recent years she kind of got thrown away and she should have at least been in Sticker Star in some way since Toads are really the only good guys in that game.

19 is Koopa Troopa maybe?
