[RUMOR] 3DS Support Lasting Until 2018

According to some new info from Emily Rogers, it seems that despite the NX being on the horizon, the 3DS still has some life left in it. She says her sources say the 3DS will continue to be supported with new content through 2018. We don't really have any more info than that.

This is actually pretty major info if true, I expected 3DS support to end sometime next year since the NX is basically just a handheld. This is certainly interesting.

I can see it lasting that long since NX is an unproven system when it comes to sales and depending on the studio they will make more on the 3DS do to it's huge install base.

Heu, heu, heu, I'm sure that the 3DS will be supported more so when we find out that the NX will be backwards compatible with the NX & can run 3DS titles. It's bound to happen, more so since the 3DS was backwards compatible to DS titles. So it could be a reason to keep making 3DS titles until the NX is shown & announced to be compatible with the 3DS titles anyway.
