Sounds good! That's certainly impressive, especially considering the Wii launch. I definitely think sales will continue pretty steadily lower than that from here out though until games like Splatoon 2 and ARMS release.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo plans to double its production plans for Nintendo Switch this fiscal year. Originally it was planning to ship 8 million more consoles this fiscal year, but they now are planning to ship 16 million. (which would in total make 18 million out there, already well over what Wii U sold if they end up selling)

Sounds great! These are definitely good figures.

I think we will see the units being put out in Summor and this winter when the big games like Mario release.

Some insight into Nintendo Switch development:

    - Nintendo is preparing new IP one after another
    - there are titles inn development that take advantage of the Joy-Con
    - Nintendo is also working on "out-of-the-box titles", meaning more non-traditional games like Brain Age
    - Brain Age was used as an example by the interviewer, and was in no way confirmed for Switch
Sounds good! As long as the "out of the box" titles are fun and interesting I'm totally down for it, I just don't want this to be just like the Wii era where pretty much all we got were games like Brain Age and the Wii series. Love the new IP though.

I wander if there just moving over that 3DS Brain Age that puts on the upcoming games list for a few years now? As for the new IP's I wander if they will just be getting more indie games under there belt or are some of there in house team make more new series and make fans wait longer for series like Animal Crossing and Metroid.

So I thought maybe I should come here 'cause I just bought my new Switch today! I don't have it yet in my possession but I did buy it online, it was a long journey of waiting for it to become available but I waited and it did and now I'm finally getting it with BotW and 1-2 Switch!! It's the grey version. I wanted neon but I just had to get whatever I could get. I'll let you guys all know what I think soon!

So an update: I just got my Switch in today (finally) and it feels pretty cool to play. But I'm not as excited about using it as I thought I was gonna be. BotW is really good so far but I'm starting to wonder if I really needed this whole new console to play it on since it's on the U too. I guess we'll see soon enough if I still like it!

It may not be worth getting the Switch for only one game but I'm sure there will be more options in the future. As far as indies and third party games are concerned that aren't exclusive, I may look elsewhere but Nintendo truly shines with the first party titles in my opinion.

I'm sure most who bought the Switch did so due to the other games coming out this year. At least you are able to take Breath of the Wild on the go if you ever take a trip somewhere.

Nintendo Switch has already sold 2.74 units in just under 2 months.

I'm sure the numbers are closer to 3 million now with the recent restocks over the last few days and I feel like the Switch might be close to hitting the Wii U's lifetime sales by this time next year.

Keep in mind those hardware sales cover less than a month's worth of being on the market so this is really promising for the next fiscal year

Also I think Gigi linked the wrong pdf, should be this one

Fantastic! While I definitely don't agree with some of the forecasts saying it'll sell better than the Wii, it does seem like Switch is going to be a pretty successful console for Nintendo with those early sales numbers. Really great for the first month or so.

Whoever is saying that probably forgot that the Wii managed to attract a huge demographic outside the core and that said demographic continued to popularise the console even some years down the track on public media
I wouldn't expect retirement village grannies playing a Switch is what I mean tongue

Here's to it reaching 10m this FY though
