Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

A Mario Kart game was shown in the Nintendo Switch trailer.



Based on the double item system I think this is Mario Kart 9 and it just runs on the same engine and it's nice to see King Boo make a return.

I don't like that it looks identical to Mario Kart 8, but it's awesome to see a potentially new Mario Kart game on the console. I'm hoping for launch but I'd rather have Splatoon at launch than this.

Here's a rumor from Emily Rogers:

- will contain all of the previous Wii U content (tracks, characters) plus all of the Wii U DLC
- will feature tons of exclusive content
- this includes brand new tracks, new playable characters, and a new-and-improved battle mode
- development complete
- set to be released within the first three months of Switch’s launch

Now this is interesting. If it does indeed have a lot of new content, I can deal with the fact that the game would just be a port. Mario Kart 8 is the best in the series, and I feel like starting from scratch would be a bit of an annoyance with what they've already built up. As long as it's enough new content to warrant purchasing an entire game, I'm totally okay with this.

I only see Nintendo adding other row of characters, 12 battle mode areas, coin runners and 2 more cups. I doubt we will see that many new tracks and characters since, 8 already has the most the series has seen yet.

Right now this is my most hyped Switch game due to not being the biggest Zelda fan and the release date is close.

Looks awesome! The new Splatoon additions especially, and I'm loving the new items. I just hope it actually includes new tracks and a pretty great deal of them or I'm not really planning to buy it. (unless they have a Wii U upgrade option)

So Gold Mario is a skin for Metal Mario like in GP DX. The other battle courses seem to be Dragon Driftway, Sweet Sweet Canyon , Wuhu Town and Rainbow Road.

The other battles courses look cool, but I'm still not willing to pay $60 for this considering I already own the game on Wii U with all the DLC, which I can still play online as of now. I'll consider buying it at maybe $20 sometime later on, but if this is the only Mario Kart game on Switch I'll be disappointed.

I'll double dip. Although I bought all the Mario Kart 8 DLC on Wii U. I know some family will enjoy the Battle Mode much more than what it was before.

You can now change your character and kart in the online lobby.



This is a nice change so you not longer have to back out to change characters.

Is that a new feature, if it is, it's a good edition, don't know why it wouldn't be there originally.

Yep it is new. I do find it odd that they didn't highlight that considering it is a pretty nice change and there aren't too many in the game. But it's cool nonetheless.

A welcome change. Remember some of us leaving the lobby to change characters/kart combos? That's no more fortunately. A little of a nuisance as we'd usually miss a race otherwise. Have no clue why it hasn't been a thing until now.

I'm still very much on the fence about getting this given my likelihood of utilising local multiplayer is slim and I already haven't touched MK8 and DLC for at least a year plus :L (not to mention no Switch yet)

That's not to say the additions are bad they're actually good selling points (battle mode being the biggest draw) but ehh not enough for me to throw money at
