3DS Successor Coming After Nintendo Switch

Now please don't take this as 100% truth because there isn't an official translation yet, but I'm not marking it rumor because it does come from the Nintendo IR meeting Q&A session. (this just isn't the translation from Nintendo directly)

Nintendo has said that the Nintendo Switch is a home console and successor to the Wii U, while the 3DS successor will come "much later." (seemingly 2018) They will continue to support the 3DS with new titles through 2017, while Wii U will not continue to be supported past The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Honestly I kind of assumed this would be the case after seeing the Switch reveal trailer. I also think the DS line needs to continue, because the dual screens albeit somewhat older now are just so necessary to me for handhelds.

I feel like it will be more of a break into the glass option if the Switch does not sell while after 2 or 3 years. If Gamefreak is really making games for the Switch then I think we can right off this report and we all know the game drought will continue if Nintendo keeps making games for 2 systems at once.

For my two cents worth I'll believe this rumor when Nintendo reveals it. Which will probably be the end of 2017 would be my guess. xp
