Miitopia

Gamexplain has made a video explaining basically what Miitopia is based on the Japanese Nintendo Direct:



Honestly this is almost exactly what I expected this game to be so I'm really not surprised at all.

Very strange Direct for the most part. The game does look pretty decent though and it looks like amiibo will give you outfits based on select characters like Mario and KK Slider.

Miitopia will be coming to North America and Europe later this year.



If Nintendo was smart they would make this a cheep eShop game or Streetpass game and not the full $40.

Still mixed feelings on this one, I kinda want to get it, but at the same time, something about it is keeping me away, maybe it's the they won't attack if they're not in the mood thing.

Tbh, I thought that this game would stay a Japanese only game really.

I might get it when it goes down in price, but at $40 I think that's a bit much.

Yeah $40 is definitely a steep price for a game like this, but it looks okay. I do like how all the Mii games are just kind of crazy, and you can see that here with how all the attacks don't really make much sense. But I don't think it would be full price enjoyable.

I didn't even realise this was a full priced game.

Ehh I'm trying to wind back my 3DS use anyway in anticipation of switching up (when it's more worthwhile to get a Switch) so this'll be a pass for me, even if the idea is zany

There's a demo available for Miitopia now. I downloaded & have been playing it since the download. There's a lot I like about this game, BUT also a lot I don't like about it too.

My thoughts so far:

So far, Miitopia is a cute idea but there's a lot about the game I don't like either. It kind of feels like a Final Fantasy mii game trying to be a streetpass game. XD There's no real way to heal their hp unless they decide to do it themselves which I do not like at all. You get HP/MP/Revive sprinkles later as you play but that is something you have to watch or else you run out of the sprinkles way too easily. There's also not much in the way of sprinkles either which is kind of lame. <.<" You get to assign roles to special characters, even the villain, & can choose who you have in your party which is awesome. But I don't like how when you scan amiibo in for clothes, when you go to use the clothes they're terrible for use stat wise, which is also lame. Yea, you can change out their hats which won't affect their stats but I feel that the amiibo clothes you get should be the same way. Just what ever you get in game should, but it what it is. I also don't like that you have no control over where they go, when the characters go into an area on the world map, just which way they go. It's.. Very streetpass-y, which isn't very fun for me. What I do like is the characters interactions when you get them together, what they look like after they're full since they look hilarious when their stuffed. xD I also like how you can give them gold to buy stuff & usually it's a nice upgrade to what ever it is they started out with. I like being able to choose who's who in my party, as special characters & the like. But I don't like how they try to force streetpass down your throat & would love to set up the towns & that myself. (I would love total control but hey that's me & at least I'm admitting wanting that for this game.)

So far I'm not too sure if it's something I have to get day one, or wait to get when it goes down to $20 sometime in the future. >.< I'm sure I'll figure it out before it releases next month.

^ It's good to hear your thoughts because I haven't tried out the demo yet. (I downloaded the one for Ever Oasis instead because I'm much more interested in that game) The HP stuff worries me because I feel like that's one of the most important aspects of battling in an RPG but hopefully it works well enough.

I just watched a stream of the demo and played it for myself, and I can certainly say that I severely undersold the game when i first heard of it. The game is so quirky and fun, and it's entertaining to se how the relationships between party members develop in and outside of battle. Also the fact that you can just the Miis that play the NPCs and enemies so so gosh darn hilarious. Never in my life would I have imagined I would see a Snoop Dog Butterfly XD.

Yea, there is a lot that's good about it. But I just don't like that I only have control over one of the characters though. The others as npc's just bugs the heck out of me I guess. XD

Welp, I got the full blown game & I have to say that its definitely the interaction between mii characters that sold me on this. I didn't think it would, but yea its kind of addicting seeing the characters interact. That & I'm basically building the game using my friends who are on my 3DS or people I know online in different roles by creating miis of them myself or using friends I have on my list at random or from miis I've already designed. The possibilities are endless & its a lot more fun then I really gave it credit for. Yea, it may have its issues but I can forgive them due to how creative I can get with adding who I want where in the Miitopia story.

^ So in that case is it something you'd recommend? Based on what I've seen (which, granted, was only a VERY small amount from trailers) it didn't look particularly great from a gameplay standpoint. But if the Mii interactions are enough to make it worthwhile to play through, I'm actually interested too.
