My top 10 cards used by Yami Yugi

Over the course of the anime Yami and Yugi both used a large number of monsters with some being more used then others. Here are 10 of my favorites that where used quite a bit.

Big Shield Gardna made his debut in episode 61 and he pretty much replaced Giant Solider of Stone as Yami's ace defensive monster. Since that episode Big Shield Gardna showed up in almost everyone of Yami's duels when he needed to be on the defensive for a few turns. My favorite moment of this card is when Yami called out that he would draw the card in the ceremonial battle even if Yugi was the first duelist to switch the card into attack mode and deal 1900 point of damage to Yami's life points.

Summoned Skull first appeared in episode 2 and he was pretty much Yami's second go to monster until the start of Battle City where he was replaced by Dark Magician Girl. My favorite moments of Summoned Skull are when he finished off Weevil in Duelist Kingdom and when Yugi used him once again in the ceremonial battle to force Yami's Big Shield Gardna into attack mode.

The poker knights first appeared in Yami's and Kabia's  battle city duel where they where used as tributes to summon Slifer and since then they have been a staple of Yami's deck. My favorite moment was with Queen's Knight when Yami fused her with the Claw The Claw of Hermos to create Goddess Bow in Waking the dragons.

Buster Blader first appeared in episode 65 and he pretty much replaced Curse of Dragon as Yami's go to 3rd monster in case his magicians could not get the job done. My favorite moments of Buster Blader are when Yugi used him to destroy Yami's Chimera and Best of Gilfer in the ceremonial battle.

Valkyrion first appeared in episode 73 and he pretty much replaced Black Luster Solider as Yugi's strongest regular monster. My favorite moment of Valkyrion is when Yugi used the combo of magnet reverse, magnet force and his 3 magna warriors to destroy Yami's 3 god cards in the the ceremonial battle.

Black Luster Soldier first appeared in episode 30 and even though Yami only used him in 3 duels he's pretty deadly and it gets a few bonus points for being Yami's spirit card. My favorite moment of Black Luster Soldier is when he defeated Mai's Harpie's Pet Dragon and made her surrender in duelist kingdom.

Slifer first appeared in episode 65 and since then he has been used in a few duels over the course of the series. My favorite moment of Slifer is when he finished off Yami Bakura in the first round of the battle city finals.

Kuriboh first appeared in episode 5 and since then he has been a staple of Yugi's deck and if GX is anything to go by it seems to be the monster he has the biggest bond with. My favorite moment of Kuriboh is when he activated his deck master effect to save Yugi from losing to Gansley in episode 101.

Dark Magician Girl first appeared in episode 62 and since then she has been used in almost all of Yami's duels. My favorite moment of Dark Magician Girl is when she finished off Arkana with the help of Akaana's first Dark Magician and Yugi's Dark Magician. Yugi and Yami also seem to have a deep connection with Dark Magician Girl due her picking them to revive Timaeus. Yugi also continued to use this card even if Yami want to the afterlife likely due to his friendship with Mana in the world of memories.

The Dark Magician is Yami's signature card and it's both Yugi and Yami's favorite card. The Dark Magician has been around since the start of the series and he won many duels for Yami. My favorite moment had to be when Yami used him against Leon to defeat his 4 monsters with Diffusion Wave Motion. The Dark Magician was also Yami's childhood friend and most loyal servant Mahad. Yugi still uses Dark Magician as his ace even after Yami want to the afterlife.
