Nintendo to open Nintendo Tokyo, the first official Nintendo store in Japan

The Nintendo World Store name change makes sense now.

(HQ: Kyoto Minami-ku; Representative Director and President: Shuntaro Furukawa), is pleased to announce Nintendo TOKYO, Nintendo’s first official store to be directly managed by Nintendo in Japan. It will be located in SHIBUYA PARCO (building name tentative) that is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019 by PARCO CO.,LTD. (HQ: Tokyo Shibuya-ku). The store's opening is planned to coincide with the opening of SHIBUYA PARCO (name tentative).


In addition to selling products such as video game systems, software and character-based merchandise, we plan to host events and offer opportunities to play games at Nintendo TOKYO. We are preparing to make this store, which will be a new base for communicating Nintendo information in Japan, an enjoyable place for a wide range of consumers.

more official Nintendo stores can only be a good thing and I would like to visit it someday.

I'm hoping this means they'll keep opening up new stores in different locations as time goes on, eventually to where a lot of big areas have one. I'm not expecting to have a local Nintendo store wherever you go, but I can see them opening them up in bigger cities. They already have New York and now Tokyo, I wouldn't be surprised to see LA, etc.
