HELP: Gettin' the frog to talk!

Well, it wasn't any boss in the game...

...and it wasn't the legendary forest maze...

But this: I can't get that bloody grandpa of Mallow's to talk!


I've just complete the Booster part, and Peach just left and rejoined the Party, Mallow told me his Grandpa would know where to go after this... but his Grandpa keeps giving me this "I sure will miss Mallow, maybe a snack will help" message.

I tried doing stupid stuff like making doing the Mole Song in the music part, buying him a "froggiedrink". I looked around all over the world to see if any NPC has light on this... but honestly, other than mushrooms and cake there hasn't been much food in the game!

What am I missing here? Anyone care to shed any light into this?

(I actually spent my whole time playing today trying to figure out what to do...)

Give the shopkeeper in Mushroom Kingdom a frog coin.

Didn't it say that you were supposed to do that? Because I recall easily figuring out I was supposed to give him a frog coin.

I was reading the text pretty closely... all I heard Mallow say was "Let's go to grandpa!"

...not "let's go to grandpa's, oh hang on, let's pick him up a snack first because he wont use his bloody eyes until we do".

... seriously, I don't think any hint was giving to go there what so ever.

Maybe not, perhaps I found out so easily by coincidence. (like me going into the shop)

Yeah, possibly. I don't tend to use the shops too often... although, that could be due to my wise Mallow usage.
