Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games

It's official that the box art  Gameguy showed us is the official box art:

I find it strange that it has to say "Offical Video Game" under the olympics logo, do they have to do that? I mean, isn't every game an "offical" video game?

Because the IOC has strict rules.
It has to be officially licensed, etc.

The Nintendo eShop has listed the release date for Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games as November 8th.
I hope we get the opening video before the release date because it will show if there's any new characters on the roster. I don't think there are any new characters since we would have seen a new flag by now, however Nintendo and Sega could do what they did for Bowser Jr and Siver.

I thought this game would likely be lost with the releases of other more popular (and better) titles, but that actually seems like the perfect release date so that this doesn't happen, which is always good.

Except that the release date is incorrect.

The Nov. 8 launch date for Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games that was recently listed in a Wii U notification was an error. A confirmed launch date will be announced in the future. We apologize for any confusion.

It would be odd if they decided to release this on the 22nd with there being 3 other games releasing on the same day...

It will likely still be November 10 or 15th then since Nintendo likes to put there games out on Sundays and Fridays. It would be a bad move to release this game on the 22nd since most people will buy 3D World and A Link Between Worlds over this game.

God, I hope it's before 3D World.
I'll probably buy it the day it comes out.

I'm glad there's online but it should be for all of the events and it looks like there are no new characters in less there hidden. Though it looks like Birdo is a rival again.

Playing online seems like it could be interesting, was there any online in the London one?

I really hoped Jet and Diddy would be playable...
Well, so much for that...

You can wear the Jet and Diddy Kong outfits and Jet will likely be a rival in legend showdown. I really hope Diddy Kong and Rosalina make cameos if they bring back the vip emails however I don't think they will be back.

It seems like there are a few more character outfits this time though there likely just more Mario and Sonic powerups. I could see them adding a Metal Mario outfit even though I think they should add Dixie, Rosalina and Nabbit outfits for the miis.
