Amiibo X Mario Kart 8

Well, it looks like Nintendo has confirmed what the Amiibo do in Mario Kart 8. They posted the following on their website, before taking it down in a minute or two:



So character suits for your Miis? I guess it's cool, although I doubt I'd really use this much. I never use Miis in Mario Kart 8, so I have no reason to do this other than to try it out if I end up getting the Amiibos compatible with the game.

One thing that interests me though, is November 13th also the release date for the Zelda DLC Pack? It does say following an update on that day, so I wouldn't be surprised if that confirms the release date right there!

Diddy Kong and Toad have amiibo coming out...
But at least it does something.

^ Yeah, but I honestly think that's the point. I think it's great that all of the first 12 Amiibo can be used even in as minor a way as this. Yes, the game is Mario Kart, not Nintendo Kart, but I think it's pretty cool to see the game have references to other Nintendo games with the DLC and Amiibo. Plus, people have been wanting Super Smash Kart for years now.

The Marth and Wii Fit Trainer ones are left out and just case a amiibo works in a game does not mean the character will make it into the roster.

So, what Amiibo do you guys plan to get that are compatible?

I know I'll have Mario, Yoshi, Kirby, Captain Falcon, and my sister will probably get Peach.
By the end of next year, I'll prolly have all of them except Fox and Samus.

^ Why don't you want Fox or Samus? They look like the highest quality Amiibo...

I'll probably get Mario because he'll work with a few other games too, Link because I need him for Hyrule Warriors, and Villager for Smash. I'm assuming all three of those are compatible with MK8, right?

We don't know if the Villager amiibo works with Mario Kart 8 yet but, I think he will work by May along with the Bowser, Wario and Rosalina amiibo's if there out by then.

For wave 1 I plan on getting Mario, Link, Kirby and maybe Peach and DK on day 1. I put in a order for the Yoshi amiibo so I will at least get him day 1 though if the store is sold out if the ones above.

As for wave 2 everyone but, Pit as if right now.

I kind of wish all the amiibo's were compatible with this title. I'd love to have a Shiek outfit to use for my Mii since I have Shiek; or even a Pikachu racing outfit for that matter. XD I think a Pikachu racing outfit would be super cute!

^ Yeah, what I wonder is if they'll add more when the next waves of Amiibo release. It would be interesting to have a Lucina suit or others from that wave.

The reason why there is no Pikachu outfit is since Nintendo would need to go through more trouble then it's worth.

If there are 12 new outfits in a May update they will likely be Bowser, Rosalina, Toad, Wario, Diddy, King Dedede, Little Mac, Pit, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Marth and Ike.

What trouble would Nintendo have to go through even create a Pokemon suit, exactly? I mean Nintendo owns the Pokemon franchise so I don't see what the problem would be just to add in a Pikachu racing suit, Charizard racing suit, Graninja racing suit, or even Lucario racing suit tbh. *shrugs* I'm just saying.

Nintendo only owns 33% of Pokemon, while The Pokemon Company owns 33% and Game Freak owns 34%. Since Nintendo owns The Pokemon Company they own 66%. The issue is that The Pokemon Company, Creatures Inc and Game Freak need to agree on all things Pokemon and Nintendo did not feel like going to them for a few Mii suits.
