Yes and no.
It released two months after Christmas and before Mario Kart 8.
The Wii U was selling poorly at the time, and since Donkey Kong Country has kind of dropped since Rare was bought, it's not too unexpected.

I mean, I guess that's true. It just got me thinking about it when Nintendo confirmed Hyrule Warriors has sold over 1 million copies, when that game still hasn't. But you're right.
