The newest "love" trailer confirms that all the different "courts" are just reskins of the same court. They all have the same background and whatnot, the physics on the court itself is just very slightly altered for each one. Pretty lame...

Also Luma you think Petey Piranha of all characters would be a better choice for a character than Rosalina? Are you serious? :p

The roster is alright. They got the basics, only Dry Bowser and Sprixe Princess stand out. I can't help but feel they're getting lazier with character rosters. The stages at least have something different about each other, but really now?  The ground is the one thing you change?

Amiibo support could be better. I mean it is a different genre, but at least charcater themed stages(that'd be pretty mean actually nvm), or costumes, it just feels bare-bones even with the new stuff.

You guys don't know the difference between hard court, clay and grass?
They have the different surfaces I'm sure.

@Zero You don't want this in?

It's one thing when the courts are different, but hasn't the series done different courts with different interior decor?

Also I don't know of a tennis arena where they have identically looking stadiums with different surfaces personally lol

    Petey is so GCN era

There's really no point because there's no reason to pick a different surface other than "I like how the ball bounces in ___".

I'm glad to see Toadette as a silhouette. The Sprixie Princess is an interesting choice actually. I'm satisfied with the roster despite the very small size. I'm completely happy with just Yoshi, Waluigi, Daisy, and Toadette.

I've only played Mario Tennis 64 but it had a nice variety of courts. They were simple recolors based on certain characters but the backgrounds looked nice. There was that Bowser's Castle themed court that tilted as well. I think this game could use some character themed courts if they're not in the game.

Poor Petey Piranha hasn't been playable in a long time unfortunately. Hopefully someday he makes his big return in the playable spot. He's not really appearing much as a boss anymore either.

Rumor has it Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash cannot be played with friends online.

If this is true...Nintendo what are you doing? Didn't the 3DS version even have online play with friends? This is already the laziest game they've released all year, it'd basically be pointless if you can't play online with friends.

If that rumor is true then that is horrible. There's no reason to have online play but not with friends. I hope this isn't true. That'b be like having online in Smash Bros 4 but only having For Fun and For Glory, nothing else. I'd much rather play with friends online.

    Source?

It seems like coins return and that there's some kind of challenge list.

It's confirmed you can't make use of lobbies or communities of any sort, meaning you can only play with random opponents online. Mega Ball Rally is the only bonus mode outside of Mega Battles and Regular Battles. (which is the mode shown in that previous trailer) There is only one stadium but 9 courts can be switched into the stadium.

Okay with this new info I want to know why the game is $50. It sounds like MUCH less content than the 3DS game that was less money...and not even as fun.

It doesn't even have clay courts?
    Or different locations?
    Or a tournament mode?
This is sounding so poorly developed...

^ I don't think it sounds poorly developed, just INCREDIBLY rushed so Nintendo would have something on the Wii U this holiday season. The game itself looks like it plays well, but when development obviously started maybe a month before E3 that's under 5 months development time, they had no time to add actual meat to the game. It's just not worth buying when there's such a tiny amount of content. (imo but I don't see why anyone would think otherwise anyway...)

    We got a new trailer:

@LP: Agreed. Are you kidding me? Nintendo couldn't even think of creativity besides different court colors?!?!
I don't even get how this is worth $50...

^ It's not worth $50, it's just priced at $50. Razz Of course it's probably even more expensive in Canada. Nintendo REALLY needs to work on their pricing. I understand they don't want people to think it's a rushed game with barely any content, but that's what it is, put it at a MUCH lower price so people don't feel cheated. What's even more insane is that Splatoon was less money than this in Europe. (I mean it's $60 here but still) SPLATOON of all games, my most played Wii U game by far. Come on Nintendo. >_>
