Tezuka Wants to Exceed NSMB and Work on Non-Mario Titles

Takashi Tezuka has said he'd like to be able to "exceed New Super Mario Bros." as well as work on something other than Mario.

We will continue to make 3D and 2D Mario games, but I want to make one that even exceeds New Super Mario Bros. I can't say anything concrete yet, but you may see it within a few years. I also kind of want to seriously work on something other than Mario.

Of course, he's worked on non-Mario titles in the past, but never in a significant position. I think this is interesting, he's a pretty great developer and has been at Nintendo for a VERY long time, so I'd love to see his take on other Nintendo franchises. (or on new games entirely) I'm also glad they plan to exceed NSMB, they've sucked every little bit they possibly could out of those games. :p

I'd like to see him do a new IP.
That would be really interesting.

I think Tezuka would do great on a brand new game if he decides to do that. It's a nice change that he wants to work on something other than Mario for once, I think he's likely to work on a Kirby game if possible as it's another platformer or something entirely new. I'm sure he would do a good job.

I'd also like to see him exceed New Super Mario Bros.

I would rather Tezuka give full control to Masataka Takemoto since he seems to be to be out of ideas for 2D Mario and I think he was just thinking of a way to mix things up for the NX New Super Mario Bros game. I also think he's that he wants more control on what he works on.
