Handheld or Console? Empty Handheld or Console?

Post by Winters Thief Zero Tue Nov 24, 2015 2:35 am

Which do you prefer, handheld or home consoles?

Personally it depends on what games are available for it either way. Honestly I don't really care what form a console takes as long as there's great games available. I do have to say I quite like being able to just pick up and take with me anywhere my handhelds, which obviously can't be said for home consoles. Sometimes it can be annoying to actually get them started in comparison, whereas with a handheld you can just pick it up and pretty much play from the get go.

In that sense, despite the higher capabilities of home consoles, I have to go with handhelds.

That's a pretty tough choice for me. While handhelds offer some things consoles just can't such as portability. Nintendo's dual screen handhelds are amazing, they added something more and the DS made itself different than consoles. They just feel so natural now. While the single screens are good, I'm so used to the dual screens now. However, home consoles like the Wii U now have dual screens thanks to the controller, it's good but it feels better on handhelds in my opinion. Home consoles and handhelds are great to have together really, to have what they both offer and I love them both. I'd say I prefer handhelds just a little more thanks to portability.

    Home console.
I always find I can play home consoles more, and I practically grew up playing home consoles.
They have more capabilities, and I enjoy playing home consoles more.

Honestly though I do enjoy my 3DS a lot, if I could play 3DS titles somehow on the tv without having to rely on my 3DS as much I'd much rather prefer to play my games on the console then the handheld. Trust me I love handhelds I have a ton of games for them, but I like seeing them on bigger screens then even the XL allows. So thus I think I like consoles better by comparison. That way I can immerse myself into the game that much deeper then I could via handheld. You can only immerse yourself in the game so far before you're pulled out of it by outside annoyances (like rl or w/e lmao).

I prefer handhelds, I just love all the content presented to me on my 3DS a little more than my Wii U. Consoles are a lot of fun, but having my 3DS always nearby me is great.

I enjoy playing games on the big screen more and the home console games don't give me hand cramps as much. The 3DS has had the best library of games in text years though.

This is a hard one, because it is really enjoyable to play on a big screen, but in long car rides, there's only one choice...

I gotta go with the consoles on this one.

As much as I love Nintendo's handhelds and their games, I slightly prefer consoles over them. I feel much more immersed while playing on a TV, especially huge games like Xenoblade, the 3D Zeldas or 3D Mario games. The controllers usually feel better, and I can sit at a comfortable distance from the screen.
Some games work a lot better on handhelds (Pokémon, Kirby), but I overall prefer console games with huge worlds over more compact handheld games.
