Wii U Chat updates coming

Wii U Chat is supposed to be updated with video-powered game experiences, party-conferencing and connectivity between the Wii U and mobile devices sometime soon, probably in the next couple of months. I think Wii U Chat probably needed that stuff from the beginning, but it's nice they're adding it now.

I still don't know why someone would use this over skype. This update might be part of that big Wii U system update in spring.

^ Probably not very many people, but it's still good for them to have this on the Wii U at any rate. Also, it probably is part of that update! Isn't that supposed to be in April?

The update in Spring inproves Miiverse and adds the Virtual Console.

The update in Summer will improve loading times,

So it could be in one of the updates.

Oh, I thought the one in April was the one that improves loading times. I'd expect this to be in the summer update if in any of them.

People who don't have a computer or skype near a TV, maybe. I used to use the Wii Speak channel before Skype got really popular.

Oh yeah, I guess it is kinda nice to be able to see people on you TV screen, but if you're using the Gamepad screen to look at the camera, it kinda ruins the point in that.

Yeah, that's right.

Also a big advantage, as not everyone had webcams.

So, where exactly is the microphone for this thing?

It's on the bottom of the Wii U gamepad.

Is the quality of it all that good?

I'm really not sure since I haven't actually tested it.

If it's bloody awful like the 3DS and WiiSpeak then I don't think it' worth much time...

Well considering they even have this, I'd assume it's not that bad...

Well, they still have it on Pokemon... and they still had the wii speak channel, regardless to both oh those microphones being terrible.
