Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games

^London had them and so did the Winter Olympics.
Nabbit as a rival I can definitely see.

Jet fits more as a speed type. Going by past games he will likely be a rival again.

However they might not add anyone like the London Games.

Cream will probably host Sochi Party, like you said.
But who knows Jet and Espio both have a chance.
Apparently Jet, Donkey Kong, Egg Pawn, Brido, a Goomba and Silver were supposed to be playable.
Silver and DK eventually became playable.
The winter one added 2 characters to each side.
I think 1 or 2 will be added to each side.
For Sonic, likely Jet or Espio.
For Mario, likely Birdo or Diddy Kong.

The Wii (U?) Balance board could make it more interesting. Did any of the others use it? It would be good for skiing, and those sort of events.

Ah, thanks for telling me that. In that case, Nabbit actually may be one of them. I'd prefer to see Birdo myself though...

There will probably be like 3 or 4 rivals for each side.
I say King Boo, Dry Bowser, Nabbit and Dry Bones if Birdo will be playable.

I was going to suggest some new characters but I'm truly at a loss for
who to put up as a candidate. Knowing how Nintendo has been operating
themselves lately, I honestly expect NO NEW PLAYABLE CHARACTERS.

This looks the most probable if anyone DID join the fray.

Yeah, Nintendo has been very lazy and we can expect most likely no new ones.
But, SEGA I'm pretty sure is developing this game again.
They may add new characters.
Like you said (and I said) Jet or Espio and Birdo or Diddy Kong will be most likely.

I think we will see for sure next week. But I think it will be on the 3DS going by past games.

That third sonic game won't be until next year though.

I know it's not confirmed, but I think we can safely say that it really will be on 3DS. It would only make sense, the other games were all on the portable Nintendo console as well.

I wonder if the touch screen would be used like a Wii U gamepad at points, because the gamepad is sorta like the bottom touch screen on a 3DS. Then there is the top screen which is the TV. Obviously it's going to be different than the Wii U version, but it would be interesting to see them do it like that.

I don't think the 3DS verison of the game will have dream events, the mixed events, the Sochi Party Mode and the shop.

But it will likely have a story mode, prizes and more events the 3DS Microphone and Camera.

EDIT: The 3DS version was confirmed to be official.

Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games will be out this November for Wii U. We still don't know anything about the 3DS game yet.

A November release is what I suspected.
The winter Olympics are in February.
I'm hoping they add Diddy Kong.
