Shigeru Miyamoto says that more Metroid games will likely be developed in the future, with Retro Studios most likely to create the next game in the series.
I know Nintendo will probably not allow Team Ninja to help, nobody would buy the game.
Of course there will be another Metroid game, but Retro is currently working on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, so they're probably not thinking about it now.
