    Nintendo 64DD Empty Nintendo 64DD

Post by Winters Thief Zero Sun Feb 09, 2014 10:13 pm

For those who don't know, the Nintendo 64DD is a disc drive add-on for the Nintendo 64 released only in Japan as it was a commercial failure there. It only had 9 games released for it too...but you can talk about it in this thread.

I just hate the fact that the N64DD is an add-on, but it really interests me and it sucks that it was never released anywhere else because there were a ton of games planned for it that would've been really cool to see. Fire Emblem 64, and even an expansion to Ocarina of Time that would apparently include multiple brand new dungeons in the game. It just sucks that none of these ever came to be. Anybody else feel the same way?

Most of the games planed were likely made later on though so it's not that big of a deal. Still it would have been cool to get one and then sell it years later.

Some of them were released for the N64, like Majora's Mask and Kirby 64. But I think most of them were cancelled and never released for any future console or for the regular N64. So it's pretty disappointing...

And there going to be a Super Mario 64 2....
Nintendo should never have tried to make an add on for the N64.
It was too confusing, people thought they could buy one without an N64...

Well hey, look at Nintendo now, they've got the exact opposite problem, people think the Wii U Gamepad is an add-on for Wii. XD

Really I just think Nintendo wanted to show that they weren't "behind the times" in the technology of their console, using cartridges while everyone else was using discs.

Impo, I think the N64 double-D was just a stepping stone before the Gamecube was released anyhow.
