"Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed are the kind of games with season passes. Offers where you pay a lot up front then get access to all that game's DLC down the line. It doesn't sound like a very Nintendo thing to do, does it?

Oh, but it is. Nintendo is now offering a season pass of its very own, for the upcoming Mario Golf: World Tour on 3DS. Three packs of DLC (courses, characters, etc) will be on sale for $6, but you can pay $15 and get all three. There's not even a cuddlier name for it; it's even being called a "Season Pass".

I know it's 2014, and the business has changed, but it still felt very strange writing that last paragraph. Not as strange as it'll feel reading "Best Buy Offering Exclusive Retro Skin Preorder Bonuses For Zelda Wii U" in 2016, but strange nonetheless." source

I wondered when Nintendo would start pulling this crap & yep: there it is in black & white: Nintendo is now pulling what Sony & M$ has been pulling on gamers for some time now. It's a sad, sad day. /:

The thing that everyone is over looking is that Mario Golf World Tour will only be $29.99 when it hits stores and the Nintendo eShop. Also this game has 10 courses, online, 16 characters, different modes and 126 holes without the DLC. At the end of the day it's only $5 more for almost double the content and if you don't want the DLC don't buy it.

While season passes aren't necessarily a good thing, I don't see how this should be a bad thing really. They have revealed ALL of the DLC which will release for Mario Golf: World Tour, that way you know what's coming. So if you want everything, you can save some money on the DLC. Other games which have them don't even let you know what the DLC is beforehand, so if you pay money to get it all, it may just be something you wouldn't have wanted in the first place. So I think it's a good deal personally. That's not mentioning that it's cheaper than other DLC from other companies too, in fact, pretty much all DLC Nintendo has released is. (and there has been quite a bit of DLC for Nintendo games if you think about it)

Also, they've done something similar with the Streetpass Mii Plaza games already, but I guess they're technically separate games.
