Today's subject is the Startropics games.
This series had only two games- Startropics, and its sequel, Zoda's Revenge: Startropics 2. It is also special that those games weren't relased in Japan at all, since the games were geared towards the western people. Both of these games were released on the NES.
The gameplay of these games are like Zelda and RPGs combined. You have an overworld where you talk to others to find clues, and you have dungeons where you beat up enemies, solve puzzles, and find the boss.
And we have a hero named Mike! He is a teenager who is an ace pitcher.
In the first game, he goes off an adventure to a tropical island to find his uncle, Dr. Jones, who went off missing.
In the second game, he gets flung back to the past and ends up being in many historical locations. (Ice Age/Egypt/etc.)
The gameplay of these games aren't perfect, though.
The first game's controls might take some time to get used to, since it is a bit stiff.
There are also some nasty parts which involves trial and error or some resettings.
But these games' gameplay are generally nice, if you get used to it. It's pretty good for an NES game.
But the main reason I like the Startropics games a lot is because there are a lot of amusing parts in this games.
In one part, you need disguise as a woman in order to enter a certain country.
There's also a funny joke which has bananas and ears involved.
Many humorous parts exist in this game, so definitely check them out. You might burst out laughing.
Anyway, we looked at the Startropics series, which is one of the most underrated, but amazing series of all time. I definitely recommend you to play it.
Tomorrow, we'll have an arena comparison fight between Super Mario Bros. 3 (Allstars Version) and Super Mario World. Stay tuned!
