@Zero No, not really. That's what I like, it's not as complex, and easier to learn.

Re: Yo-Kai Watch
^ Not as complex, huh? I mean other than learning about what Pokemon types are good against each other, I feel like Pokemon is too simple personally. But the battle system does seem more interesting in this so I'm still willing to give it a go.

^There's items.
You can feed your Yo-Kai food, you can even give the opposing Yo-Kai their favourite food to boost chances of them joining you.

Re: Yo-Kai Watch
Pokémon seems more simple especially if you just look at the types and main turn based combat. To me it's just a little more than that. I don't consider myself a competitive battler despite always raising competitive Pokémon and trying them out in the endgame places. I only really battle others when they ask and the team I want is ready, then I'd be happy to. Things like effort values are fairly big and individual values aren't as significant, but they make a difference. Same type attack bonus is something as well, I don't think most of the games mention it but I recall the Gen 6 games do. I didn't like how they hid that stuff. Natures serve a purpose too. However, this stuff doesn't likely matter if you're not interested in the competitive stuff but it's there.
I haven't played the Yo-Kai Watch demo, I'd like to sometime. I haven't been on the 3DS eshop lately. The trailer I saw makes it look interesting. I don't think I'd like it more than Pokémon but the game looks like it is its own thing. The only thing I can really compare is that you raise monsters for battle. The combat looks more different and interactive. I don't think it should be disregarded for being similar to Pokémon, and I love Pokémon.

Re: Yo-Kai Watch
@Zero Revolution; It's when you're battling against other Yokai that you can't use items that I take the most issues with. Like with Pokemon you can give an hurt Pokemon an item & restore them while in battle, with Yokai there's no way to do that. Idk, it's just too much busy work impo, you have to use certain moves on the Yokai to get them uncursed & then when they are uncursed your using their moves & I feel like I don't really get to see what's going on since I'm playing too much with the bottom screen, thus why I feel it's too much busy work.

Re: Yo-Kai Watch
^Actually you can.
When a Yo-Kai is becoming weaker, you can feed it an item to regain its strength.

When I played the demo this never came up, had it come up while playing in demo then maybe I might have been a bit more interested.Luma Party wrote:^Actually you can. When a Yo-Kai is becoming weaker, you can feed it an item to regain its strength.

Re: Yo-Kai Watch
So it turns out Yo-Kai Watch has actually been doing really well in North America despite slow early sales!
This is pretty cool! It's nice to see it's doing well over here.
NoC Rep wrote:Right. So as you probably know, Yo-Kai Watch is already very popular in Japan right now. When we first launched the game in North America the game started off slow as not many people knew about the game. However, similar to Japan, the games and merchandise really took off after the TV show aired in North America. Almost overnight the sales skyrocketed, and the series has been doing really well ever since

Re: Yo-Kai Watch
While it is nice that Yo-Kai is doing better in America I don't ever see it being bigger then Pokemon outside of Japan. Speaking of marchandise though I did see some playing cards at the store the other day.

Re: Yo-Kai Watch
Pfft, I doubt anything can beat Pokemon in sheer popularity at this juncture tbh.
