Rumor has it that Nintendo's NX platform has an android-based OS.
Now, if this is true, I'm not sure what to think. It would likely mean NX would be the fusion console, and their only similarities would be OS. Now it could be that they're going for an Ouya styled platform, but that's a terrible direction if true. I don't want to get too worried though, as it could easily be a heavily modified android OS.
One good thing about this would mean at least it would have backward compatibility with Wii U (and Wii?) most likely.
This is according to an inside source from Nikkei from an interview with Iwata about NX.When third-parties dropped the Wii U, it caused a turning point inside of the company. Nintendo seems to be ready to embrace a more open platform, which creates flexibility and ensures that the same content can also be played on smartphones and tables.
